Christian Communication

Eph 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
Christian communication covers a critical aspect of relationships between believers and world as a whole.
Words matter -

One another

In the new testament there are commands known as the “one another’s”
They outline how Christians should communicate
They outline how we should conduct ourselves in our relationships
However, we are not wired to communicate in this manor
We learn by submitting to the Spirit of God

Christian Communication

Why do we need to control the words that come from our mouths
It speaks to the condition of our hearts, and we will have to give an account Matt 12:35-37 “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
But more importantly to hear each other…no one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care. James 1:19 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”
2. To live justified with self and others we must control what we say. James 3:2 “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.”
a. But in reality our communication sounds like James 3:9-11 “Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?”
3. There is granted to all those that have received the Holy Spirit…inherent power. Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
