We are starting a new series tonight.
It is from Bob Kauflin’s book True Worshipers: Seeking What Matters To God.
Now, before you get too concerned, I am hoping to challenge you with this study, because it isn’t just for musical types.
It is for anyone who believes.
And we will see that as we work through these lessons.
If you are interested in this, you can pick this book up for like $9.50 on Christian Book, its a little cheaper there than Amazon.
If you want a study guide, let me know and I can print one for you.
Now, my hope with this is not to lean so heavily on the book text, but on the scripture that he uses to inform his book.
In that sense, I am sort of using the book like a commentary.
Also, if you are interested, I have a few more books on worship that are really great resources, should you guys want to dig deeper.
Now, let’s look at John 4:1-26
OK, so there are several things from this passage I want us to understand, but I want to make a couple of statements first.
The first is that, to quote Matt Papa, “We never begin worship; We aim it.”
We’ll see this in Chapter 3, but worship in the wrong direction is idolatry.
That is #1.
#2, we need a good, working definition of worship.
SOme Stuff...
Calvin (@Psalm 52:8):
From his language, it appears that he could conceive of no higher felicity in his condition than being admitted amongst the number of the worshippers of God, and engaging in the exercises of devotion.
This was characteristic of his spirit.
