Translating βαπτίζω (Baptize)
Meaning is “to immerse”
Used of dying garments

Once immersed, the effect is permanent

elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:

The Immersion of the Spirit is Prophesied, Mark 1:8

We are Immersed into the Body of the Christ, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Those claiming to speaking in tongues today are under the influence of another spirit, 2 Corinthians 11:4
For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!
Personal Experience Does not Override Scripture
Healing, Miracles, Word of Knowledge, Testing Spirits, Prophecy Have All Ceased with the Completion of Scripture, 1 Corinthians 13:10

There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Disciples are instructed to stay in Jerusalem until they receive the promise from the Father, Acts 1:4

The Holy Spirit Coming Upon the Believers in Samaria, Acts 8:14-17
Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all.

He Immersed to Find out Who Was the Messiah, John 1:29-32

And there are many other things which they have received and hold, like the washing (βαπτισμοὺς) of cups, pitchers, copper vessels, and couches.
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?”

Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
There is no Scriptural Support for a Second Baptism or a Baptism by Fire for the Church
