Main Idea
Jesus is worthy of our obedience and praise.
but...
Why is Jesus worthy?
First...

Jesus is worthy because of who He is

Philippians 2:6 (ESV)
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
We talked about this last time...
Jesus is fully God.
If anyone of His disciples wanted to see what God looked like or how God behaved they needed only to look at Jesus.
John 14:8–9 ESV
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Jesus is worthy because of who He is...
Second...

Jesus is worthy because of what He did

Philippians 2:7–8 (ESV)
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus performed the most loving, kind, generous, selfless, hardest, and most challenging thing in all of history...
He loved and died for wretched sinners like us...
Jesus is worthy because of what he did
The last thing I have to say about Jesus’ worth is...
ONE DAY...

Jesus’ worth will be recognized by all

Philippians 2:9–11 (ESV)
9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We see two responses from creation regarding Jesus...
Complete Obedience
Verbal Praise
Leave the slide up
This is where all of creation is headed. Whether we like it or not.
The good news is that the reasons for it heading towards this are compelling enough to make us want it to happen this way.
Think of who Jesus is:
Perfect
Sinless
Loving
Omnipotent
Omnipresent
Glorious in every way
Think of what Jesus did:
Go to gospel slide
Left his glorious throne to come rescue you
Patiently loved people on earth just like you
Suffered the way we deserve to
Died in the wrath of God so we don’t have to
Resurrected from the grave in order for us to do so too
Ascended into heaven and promised to come back for us
You all have amazing glorious reasons to long for this future:
