Colossians 3:1–7 NKJV
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. 5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

1. Why do we do a Daily quiet time?

Colossians 3:1–2 NKJV
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Colossians 3:1 NKJV
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
If then you where raised with Christ, ( if you are saved you are raised with Christ.) if you’re not saved, there is no reason to do a quiet time because you don’t have the Holy Spirit of God.
how do you get saved? you surrender to God!
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
all are sinners. all of us! none of us came to christ with special consideration we all came as sinners, none of us should stand in Judgement as someone comes to Christ because all Christians came as sinners first; none of us came as saints.
Romans 6:23 NKJV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
the wages of sin is death.
but the gift of God is enteral life.
Romans 5:12 NKJV
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
we are not singling you out; sin came to us all through Adam. the fact of the matter is that you must deal with your sin.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
its not that we did it its that Christ did it through us.
Romans 10:9–13 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
take a moment to invite people to Christ.

He calls us to set our mind on things above?

Colossians 3:2 NKJV
2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

what did he mean by ‘not on things on earth?

this disturbed me because when I think of ‘the things of the world’ I thought do you mean work and things like that?
Colossians 3:5 NKJV
5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
fornication,
uncleanness,
passion
, [evil desire], and
covetousness,
which is idolatry.[1]
[1] The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Col 3:5.
the things mentioned above are the things that war against the spirit and the desire of the spirit.
Mark 14:38 NKJV
38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

2. The goal is not head knowledge the goal is heart knowledge.

1 Corinthians 8:1 NKJV
1 Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
Matthew 23:27 NKJV
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
Religious pride is the worst kind of pride in the world because it miss represents God.

3. Application Leads to illumination.

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
