We are looking at the Kings of David and learning about the true king, Jesus Christ
Today we are going to look at two kings and learn about the first Adam and the last Adam
One sold our family of man into sin by following the council of Satan
One redeemed us back as the true Son of God who defeated Satan and his followers
The Fall (22:1-9)

Ahaziah followed the council of wicked Ahab’s family
He made the family of Ahab his counsellor (3-5)
Was only on the throne for a year (2)
Ahaziah reigned only one year in Jerusalem
He had so much opportunity to follow God
Instead he ended the reign of David and brought God’s promises and hopes to an end
The False Reign (22:10-12)
The False Reign (22:10-12)
Athaliah, the daughter of Jezebel rose up and began to destroy the family of David, thus bringing an end to the promise of God
She was the hand of Satan against the family of God
For many years it seemed as she had succeeded and God’s plan was brought to an end
However, God will not be undone by Satan and his wicked followers
Jehoshabeath, the aunt of Joash took and hid him from Athaliah
For every Jezebel, God has placed a Jehoshabeath to bring about his plans
They waited for 6 years until the time that they could restore the throne to the true King
The Fit King (23-24)

Jehoida strengthened himself to bring back the true king
Gathered the captains and the levites to bring back the true king
23:3 Behold, the king’s son shall reign
23:11-15 They make Joash king and destroy the enemy who sat on the throne (and her idols 16-17)
Joash build the house of God
As the king in his rightful place he reigned for 40 years doing what was right in the sight of God (24:1-3)
24:4 he build a house for his God
24:15-22 Joash forgot the good that Jehoida had done for him and ended his life in failure
Again, Joash is only a shadow of true fit king Jesus Christ
In Joash the promise continues but the promise is not fulflilled
The throne is still waiting for the eternally worthy king to come and claim what is his and when he does he will once and for all cast out Jezebel and all that follow her

In Adam the reign of man was brought to an end
Satan took over and has ruled and reigned on earth and in mens hearts ever since
It looked like for a long time that God’s promises and plans had all been undone
However, at the fulness of time, God sent the Last Adam, Jesus Christ, to come and take the throne
