Indwelling of the Persons of the Godhead

The Indwelling of Christ
Our spirit is alive because of the Indwelling Christ, Romans 8:10
Romans 8:10
But since Christ [is] in you, on the one hand the body is dead because of sin, on the other hand the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
The Forming of Christ in Us, Galatians 4:19
Galatians 4:19 NKJV
My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you,
The Hope of Glory, Colossians 1:27
Colossians 1:27 NKJV
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
The Indwelling of the Holy Spirit
Promised to the Disciples Prior to Christ’s resurrection, John 14:17
John 14:17 NKJV
the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
We are no longer in flesh, but in spirit, Romans 8:9
Romans 8:9 (NKJV)
However, you are not in flesh, but in Spirit, since indeed [the] Spirit of God dwells in you. And if, assuming it is true, someone does not have [the] Spirit of Christ, this one is not His.
Evidence that we will be raised to be like Christ, Romans 8:11
Romans 8:11 (NKJV)
But since the Spirit of the One having raised Jesus out from the dead dwells in you, the One having raised the Christ out from the dead will make alive also your mortal bodies through His indwelling Spirit in you.
The Holy Spirit is given to us as an earnest, Ephesians 1:13-14
Ephesians 1:13–14 NKJV
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
We are sealed by the Spirit, 2 Corinthians 1:22
2 Corinthians 1:22 NKJV
who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
The Holy Spirit knows the mind of our spirit and intercedes on our behalf to the Father, Romans 8:26-27
Romans 8:26–27 NKJV
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Our Relationship with the Holy Spirit
Being Filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:18
Ephesians 5:18 (NKJV)
And do not be drunk (μὴ μεθύσκεσθε) with wine, in which is dissipation (ἀσωτία); but be filled (πληροῦσθε) with the Spirit (ἐν πνεύματι),
Grieving the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 4:30
Ephesians 4:30 NKJV
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Quenching the Spirit, 1 Thessalonians 5:19
1 Thessalonians 5:19 NKJV
Do not quench the Spirit.
He produced in us desires that are contrary to the desires of the flesh, Galatians 5:17
Galatians 5:17 NKJV
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
Walking by the Spirit - How we govern our lives
Frees us from the law of the sin, Romans 8:4
Romans 8:4 (NKJV)
in order that the righteousness of the law should be fulfilled in us, the ones not walking according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Will not allow the desires of the flesh to be brought to completion, Galatians 5:16
Galatians 5:16 NKJV
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
We are to take each step by the Spirit, Galatians 5:25
Galatians 5:25 (NKJV)
If we live in the Spirit, let us also step (στοιχῶμεν) in the Spirit.
We are the Holy of Holies
All Three Members of the Godhead indwell us, 1 Corinthians 3:16
1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
This indwelling is within the spirit

Son Placement

Placed as a Son, Ephesians 1:5
Ephesians 1:5 (NKJV)
having predestined (προορίσας) us to adoption as sons (υἱοθεσίαν) by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will (θελήματος),
Marking off our Bounds - Limiting our boundaries
Prior to the Creation of the universe, within the plan of the Godhead, those in Christ would be marked off to be conformed to the image of His Son, Romans 8:29
Romans 8:29 NKJV
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
In Time, He now calls us to be in Christ today, Romans 8:30
Romans 8:30
Moreover, those whom He marked off the bounds, these also He called, and those whom He called, these also He justified, and those whom He justified, these also He glorified
The Placement of Sons
We are always sons, not in a position of an inarticulate babbler
Not under governors and stewards, Galatians 4:1-2
Galatians 4:1–2 NKJV
Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.
Not under Law, Galatians 3:23
Galatians 3:23 NKJV
But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
We are to train our senses to know the difference between what is lacking in character and what is proper, Hebrews 5:12-14
Hebrews 5:12–14 (NKJV)
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe (νήπιος). But solid food belongs to those who are of full age (τελείων), that is, those who by reason of use (ἕξιν) have their senses exercised (γεγυμνασμένα) to discern both good (καλοῦ) and evil (κακοῦ).
We are to put aside the things of an inarticulate babbler, 1 Corinthians 13:11
1 Corinthians 13:11 NKJV
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Those who are inarticulate babblers are functioning from the flesh not the spirit, 1 Corinthians 3:1
1 Corinthians 3:1 NKJV
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.
An inarticulate babbler is tossed around by every wind of teaching, Ephesians 4:14
Ephesians 4:14 NKJV
that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
An inarticulate babbler can only partake of the milk of the Word, Hebrews 5:13
Hebrews 5:13 NKJV
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
An inarticulate babbler is under law, Galatians 4:1
Galatians 4:1 NKJV
Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all,
When we get out of line we are child-trained
When we are not treating other as equal within the body, 1 Corinthians 11:32
1 Corinthians 11:32 NKJV
But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
Only those who are sons are child-trained, Hebrews 12:7-10
Hebrews 12:7–10 NKJV
If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.
