Tonight we prepare to celebrate Christmas -----
We celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour ---
our life given by Him that we are a New Creation BUT the in our progress in moving IN CHRIST we are preparing to be the CHURCH -
- TO be HIS BRIDE.
Lets explore this today using the Words in Ruth to open the Eyes of our Heart.

Marriage of Ruth

Ruth 4:13–17 ESV
13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son. 14 Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! 15 He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.” 16 Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her lap and became his nurse. 17 And the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
Last week: We ended with an blessing from the Elders of the city.
Ancestry was very key in Israel
We can see that most easily in the Gospels where Matthew and Luke
Luke gives us a lineage back to Adam
Boaz was the son of Rahab - a prostitute, a Canaanite who helped the spies in Jericho
Rahab was faithful - Rahab believed in God
The faithful will always be blessed by God
Rahab is listed in the Book of Hebrews in Ch.11 in the Hall of Faith
Boaz was the grandson of Perez who was the grandson of Perez,
who was the son of Judah, the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac the Son of Abraham
Wow and you only half believed me when i spoke of God’s Providence, Plan, and Protection
GOD IS ALWAYS WORKING
ONLY GOD
SIMPLY
ONLY GOD
and TONIGHT on Christmas Eve we celebrate
ONLY GOD ONLY JESUS ONLY the amazing event that
God so loved the world that HE gave HIS only Son to be borne to SAVE US.
Lets all say it THANK YOU GOD
THANK YOU GOD

Marriage In Israel

So God has moved Ruth from Moabite (another foreigner)
to Bethlehem to meet and marry BOAZ
a descendant of Abraham and a grandfather to David
and an ANCESTOR of our LORD JESUS CHRIST
God forbade the marriage of people who worship IDOLS to HIS chosen people the Hebrews
But God law is always PURE, always RIGHT
RUTH had accepted the LORD, gave her life, and walked her FAITH
We have the same experience —
We were once foreigners, We accepted Jesus Christ, We walk in Christ Daily,
and HIS Blessings flow to US
Marriage in Ancient Israel was much different than the marriage we think of today in our world
It was about a Covenant with God, and each other
It was about producing an HEIR
It was about providing and protecting
It was about the lesson in Genesis to be a “helpmate”
We have seen that Boaz was:
A loving man
A righteous man
A generous and caring man
Boaz was a man of God.
We have also seen that Ruth:
was selfless
was loyalty
was hard working
was a woman of God
God brings these two together:
Gen 2:24 “24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
God has brought Ruth and Boaz together for
A Purpose to meet His Plan
God has brought a Redeemer to Ruth, God has Gifted a Son
and so very important on this our Christmas Eve
God has designed his plan to bring us a Saviour

Marriage in the Bible

A few thousands year of God’s desire for the Hebrews,
the Jews to walk Righteous flows the birth of Obed, the son of Ruth and Boaz
There is the reign of David, the Great Prophets, the rise of the Pharisees and so much more....
BUT tonight we celebrate another birth
the BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST = Christmas
The etomology of the word Christmas is really the CHRIST MASS
or the CHRIST SERVICE
I also love when i moved to NM that i learned uno mas one more
looking it up MAS means, more, or further
SO I like that we can say TONIGHT CHRIST MAS
CHRIST MORE
CHRIST FURTHER --- in our life and in the life of others
Luke 2:1-7 “1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”
Matthew 1:21 “21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.””
EMMANUEL — GOD WITH US
HOLY HOLY HOLY
Is 7:14 “14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
The Past, the Prophesy, and the Promise
Praise to God ---
Tonight we celebrate the LORD with us
Tonight we celebrate our Saviour
Praise to Jesus Christ
the LORD JESUS was there in GEN 1:1 then prophesed throughout the OT
Then born --- the miracle of GOD loving us to send HIS only SON
to fulfill HIS promise to give the GIFT OF GRACE, THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE,
and this GIFT is the MARRIAGE ----
to be joined together eternally with our Saviour our LORD JESUS
in carpentry the word marriage is not used as a female and male board nailed together
BUT that TWO boards are joined together to strengthen and support the burdens that will be placed upon them
This is the marriage to the Saviour
— our Salvation
— HIS promise and our Faith that we celebrate TONIGHT.

Married to the Saviour

Here is the amazing part of RUTH
the reason for the study
the reason for the lessons
and the Reason for the Season
we are going to be married to OUR SAVIOR.
Eph 5:23 “23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.”
We are the CHURCH
Christ is our HEAD
We submit to Christ, We submit to each other
We are the Bride of Christ.
Rev 19:7 “7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;”
Rev 19:8 “8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.”
Rev 19:9 “9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.””
Friends we started in Ruth tonight
We went to Genesis
We moved to the Gospel
Back to Isaiah
and Finished with Revelations
TONIGHT let us PRAISE HIM
LET US PRAISE OUR REDEEMER
We were once lost, we were foreigner, we needed a REDEEMER
Jesus woo’d us
Brought us to a moment to accept Him
Jesus will Phil 1:6 “6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
This work is all for one PURPOSE
through struggle and strength
through sorrow and tears
Jesus is Preparing us to be HIS bride, as God prepared Ruth to meet Boaz
— to marry BOAZ to be listed in the Ancestory of CHRIST
We are being prepared to since meeting Jesus to be married
to the LAMB OF GOD - JESUS CHRIST
to leave our Father and Mother and to be joined with Christ forever and ever --- to have our name recorded in the BOOK OF LIFE
Tonight i URGE YOU to celebrate Christmas
To celebrate the BIRTH of our Savior
Lets Pray.
