THE POWER OF GIVING

Psalm 92:1 (NKJV) — 1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
Psalm 33:1 (NKJV) — 1 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.
But what does it mean to give thanks? What does a heart of gratitude look like?
Honestly, there is so much goodness to be giving thanks for
The Word THANKS-GIVING shows that thanks and giving go together.
Of course, thanks and giving go together.
But wait, do we really believe this?
Does it show up in our lives? Do we give our thanks, or is it something we feel randomly?
When we look up the word “thanks” in scripture, we find the majority of the time it’s preceded by “give.”
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High. Psalm 7:17 NIV
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4 NIV
Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Daniel 6:10 NIV
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. Matthew 14:19 NIV
Giving thanks allows our heart, perspective, and attitude to change.
Thanksgiving is not just something you feel in your hear, but it is something you do also
We can give thanks by saying it out loud, by sharing with other people, by giving the things that God has blessed us with to other people and to His work
Thanks giving is an action word
In our thanksgiving, the first thing we must do is to give our lives completely to God
Judges 5:2 (KJV) — 2 Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.
2 Corinthians 8:5 (KJV) — 5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
When you give your whole life and everything you have to God then it will be easy to give you time, energy, resources, money to God
All we have does not belong to us, it was given to us by God
We cannot say we are thankful, if we are not a giving people, if we are not a generous people
God is honoured by our gifts (Exodus 35:22)
Generous giving honours God (Ezra 2:68–69)
God will reward us for giving to others (Mark 9:41)
Giving helps others live (Acts 2:44–45)
We should support Christian workers (Acts 28:10)
Wealthy people should give generously (1 Timothy 6:17–19)
God is pleased with our gifts (Hebrews 13:16)
Giving reflects God’s love (1 John 3:17)
2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV) — 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
2 Corinthians 8:7 (NKJV) — 7 But as you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us—see that you abound in this grace also.
