John 3:16–20 NIV
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.
LOVE...
1 John 4:10 NIV
10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:19 NIV
19 We love because he first loved us.
John 15:13 NIV
13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Romans 5:6–8 NIV
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
What’s the Point?
God loves us and we can ONLY love others because God showed it to us first.
1 John 4:8 NIV
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Not only that, God loves us so much that he became a human to live, die, be resurrected and promise to come again for us. He loved us so much that He came so we could have new, real life!
Christmas is about that! God came to US!
Jesus is the season, But WE ARE THE REASON.
The reason for Christmas is because God loves US!
The Greatest gift of Christmas is NOT found under a tree! The Greatest gift of Christmas was found in a manger - the demonstration of God’s love - God Himself, come to be with us, to change us, to give us new life!
For God so loved____________ that He gave his only son, so that if ______________ would believe in Him ______________ would have everlasting life.
Everlasting Life?
This includes the promise of life in eternity. But, it is also a QUALITY of life. A new life that can begin NOW and if that life extends for all eternity there would be NO COMPLAINTS!
This life is available to all who choose to accept the gift of God’s love seen and revealed in Jesus Christ.
