There’s No Christmas Without Christ

(Galatians 4:4–5) Here’s why there’s simply no such thing as Christmas without Christ!

I. The Eternal Christ:

a. Jesus did not have His beginning at Bethlehem. The Bible says that God sent His Son. God’s Son did not originate at Bethlehem and Jesus did not become the Son of God at His birth. Jesus was not the Son of God because he was born of a virgin. He was born of a virgin because He was the Son of God. That’s the way He came into this world. (John 1:1-4, 8:57–58, 8:57, 17:5, 17:24)

II. The Fulfillment of Christ:

a. In Galatians 4:4, it says, “But when the fulness of time was come, God sent forth His Son.” The fullness of what time? Well, the clock started back in the garden of Eden in Genesis 3, the first prophecy in all the Bible. It was that the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent’s head. That is, before Eve had ever had a baby, God said a mother’s child, the seed of the woman, a man born without an earthly father, is going to crush the serpent (Satan’s) head.

b. We know Jesus came the first time in the fullness of time, and so we certainly have every reason to believe that the Christ of Christmastime is coming again in the fullness of time. 1 Timothy 6:15 says, “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;”

III. The Miracle of Christ:

a. Galatians 4:4, “…made of a woman.” (Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:26-37) If you don’t believe in the virgin birth, it’s because you don’t believe “With God, nothing is impossible.” The blood that flowed through Jesus’ veins was the blood of God, because the blood is donated by the father at conception. That’s the reason that the Apostle Paul said in Acts 20:28, “Take heed, therefore, unto yourselves. and to all the flock, over the which the Holy ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the Church of God, which he hath purchased with His own blood.”

IV. The Assignment of Christ:

a. Galatians 4:5, “To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” His assignment was redemption. He was the only one who ever lived a sinlessly perfect life and kept the law of God. He never misspoke, or had to say, “I was wrong, I messed up, or I’m sorry!” He never had to confess sin. He never asked for a pardon. He never asked for advice. He never cursed. Song of Solomon 5:16 says, “His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin.” He was made under the law. Why?

b. Here’s why there’s no Christmas without Christ. Why did Jesus Christ step out of heaven? Why the virgin birth? Why the fulfillment of prophecy and the miracles? Why did He do it? To redeem us. He was made under the law because He had to meet us where we were. (1 Corinthians 15:21-22, 15:47; Hebrews 2:14) He came to earth that we might go to heaven. He was born of a virgin that we might be born again. He became the Son of Man that we might become sons of God. That’s what it’s all about. That’s why without Christ, there is no Christmas!
