Life in 2022 is fast-paced, frenetic, and—let’s be honest—exhausting at times. With the invention of the smartphone and other such “productivity” devices, we are inundated with a never-ending stream of requests, tasks, opportunities, and distractions. Despite being in constant communication with others, we are lonelier than ever. Despite having extremely high levels of efficiency in our tasks, we seem to be less effective than ever. Beyond that, we are depressed, anxious, stressed out, and joyless much of the time. We spend our time doing many good things, but the pace—frankly—is unsustainable. This class aims to offer hope for the future, honest questions for identifying warning signs of burnout, and help for developing practical strategies to build healthy patterns of living in order to reach the finish line.
