Read 2 Peter 3:1-16. So, are you busy? Many of us wear busyness like a badge of honour. And the lead up to Christmas is a busy time for most.
Time is short. Today, there are only sixteen shopping days left until Christmas! Our to-do lists are long. Someone asked a couple of weeks ago if my to-do list had footnotes! There is so much to do to prepare for Christmas.
But God is much less interested in what we do than in who we become. Our passage invites us to focus on who we want to be - who God wants us to be - people who live holy and godly lives. We are invited to slow down and discover God’s peace - the peace which is beyond our understanding, the peace the world cannot give us.
How might our priorities change this Advent season, if we chose to focus on being the people God wants us to be rather than on what we have to do?
We will find peace if we choose to take on God’s values, his attitudes and his character. My prayer is that all of us will grow spiritually this Advent season. I pray we will be found doing the right thing even when we’re tired and stressed and don’t feel like it.
Let’s all be determined to be more interested in who we are and who we are becoming than about what we are doing.

THINK IT OVER

Think about the following:
How might God be trying to build your character during this season?
