Psalm 15:1 ESV
O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
Psalm 15:2 ESV
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart;
Psalm 15:3 ESV
who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
Psalm 15:4 ESV
in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
Psalm 15:5 ESV
who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
DAVID ASKS THIS QUESTION
SERMON TITLE

WHAT THE SOUL MUST SEE

DAVID ASKS THESE QUESTIONS BECAUSE OF WHAT THE PRESENCE OF GOD COMPELS HIS SOUL TO SEE, EMBRACE AND YEILD TO

I. THE HOLINESS AND GLORY OF GOD

HOLINESS – DEFINE
Habakkuk 1:13 ESV
You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?
GOD IS NOT LIKE US (SCRIPTURES)
THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE VIEW GOD FROM VERY HUMANISTIC IDEALS: A BUDDY, (FRIEND..IN A WORDLY SENSE)
THERE IS A SELF-DESTROYING POWER OF THE SOUL’S SIGHT OF THIS HOLINESS
ISAIAH
Isaiah 6:5 ESV
And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
1 John 1:5 ESV
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
DEMONS
Mark 5:6–7 ESV
And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”
JAMES
James 2:19 ESV
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
JESUS IS THE SAME
Hebrews 13:8 ESV
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

II. THE SOULS’S STEWARDSHIP OF GOD’S HOLINESS

STEWARDSHIP OF HOLINESS IS OUR WORSHIP
IT IS THE LIFESTYLE OF THE BELIEVERS THAT FLOWS OUR OF THE LIFE OF GOD
WORSHIP IS THE LIFE THAT IS LIVED OUT OF GOD -
OUT OF RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
OUT OF A RELATIONSHIP THAT IS ALWAYS BEFORE HIM
“GOD’S HOLINESS AND GLORY ARE FEARFUL, WORSHIP-INDUCING ELEMENTS THAT WE SHOULD DO WELL TO REMEMBER”
THE SHEER WEIGHT OF THE RESPONSIBILITY OF LIVING BEFORE THIS HOLY GOD IN THE LIGHT OF THE EVER PRESENT REALITIES OF INDIFFERENCE AND SIN LEAV DAVID IN A PLACE OF SELF EXAMINATION
THIS IS WHY DAVID ASKS…WHO IS ABLE...
d. WHO…
THIS STEWARDSHIP COMES FROM THE AWARENESS OF THE CAUTION IS ECCLESIASTE
Ecclesiastes 5:1 ESV
Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil.
Psalm 16:8 ESV
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
HOW DO WE DO THIS: COMMUNE WITH JESUS DAILY…EVEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY (SPONTANEIOUS PRAYER, MEMORIZATION)
WHY? THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER IS ONLY AS STRONG AS THE SOUL’S CONTINUAL SIGHT OF CHRIST
THEREFORE WORSHIP IS THE RESPONSE OF THE SOULS INTENTIONAL AND DYNAMIC DWELLING WITH GOD IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
THIS RESPONSE TO THE HOLINESS OF GOD - THE STEWARDSHIP OF WORSHIP THAT IS NOW OURS, IS NOT ELIMINATED BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN FULLY FORGIVEN IN JESUS:
THE GOSPEL TEACHES US
Romans 8:1 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
THE FORGIVEN…THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF FORGIVENESS CITE PS 130:3-
Psalm 130:3 ESV
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?
Psalm 130:4 ESV
But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.
ROMANS
Romans 2:3 ESV
Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?
Romans 2:4 ESV
Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
Romans 2:5 ESV
But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.
HEBREWS 12:25-29--
Hebrews 12:25 ESV
See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
Hebrews 12:26 ESV
At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
Hebrews 12:27 ESV
This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.
Hebrews 12:28 ESV
Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,
Hebrews 12:29 ESV
for our God is a consuming fire.
The unthinking many imagine it to be a very easy matter to approach the Most High, and when professedly engaged in his worship they have no questionings of heart as to their fitness for it; but truly humbled souls often shrink under a sense of utter unworthiness, and would not dare to approach the throne of the God of holiness if it were not for him, our Lord, our Advocate, who can abide in the heavenly temple, because his righteousness endureth for ever. [1]

III. THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR DWELLING

Micah 2:10 ESV
Arise and go, for this is no place to rest, because of uncleanness that destroys with a grievous destruction.
Hebrews 13:14 ESV
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
c. ABRAHAM)
Hebrews 11:8 ESV
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Hebrews 11:9 ESV
By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.
Hebrews 11:10 ESV
For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
MOSES
Hebrews 11:25 ESV
choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.
Hebrews 11:26 ESV
He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.
A DESIRE FOR GOD
Psalm 73:25 ESV
Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.

I. The One Who Lives for the Pleasure of God
II. The One Whose Speaks for the Pleasure of God
III. The One Who Deals With Others for the Pleasure of God
IV. The One Who Chooses Mentors for the Pleasures of God
V.
Not just the use of money but one’s heart towards it
Matthew 6:24 ESV
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
