The CALL OF ABRAHAM & CHOICE of ISRAEL
Israel had been chosen of God to be a testimony to the rest of the world to what it was like to have God as their leader.
Other nations served false gods and their idols, committing great evil (human/child sacrifices, prostitution etc.) as part of their worship and Israel was to be a nation contrasting these things as a representation of their God.

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
