Faith believes before it sees—Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the realization of what is hoped for, the proof of things not seen.”

John’s purpose is to demonstrate that there is more than adequate evidence to prove that Jesus is the Son of God who provides eternal life to all who believe in him
O.T. law required 2 witnesses, God gives 3. Heretics at the time said Jesus was man until baptism then he became God until His suffering.
John has been writing that Jesus is the God Man because a simple man could not atone for the worlds sin, that the Spirit now in confirms in believers that He is the Son of God
1 John 2:27 “And as for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you do not have need that anyone teach you.
But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you reside in him.”
3. The “water and blood” refer to the terminal points in Jesus’ earthly ministry: his baptism (water) and his crucifixion (blood).

Historically, Jesus “came” into his power by the “water” of his baptism and even more so by the “blood” of his cross
