Many scripture found and used as a defense for one stance can be used for all.
No one knows when the hour will come.
All that we know is that it will come quickly, and unexpectedly.
And as many of characteristics of the end of times is always happening, it will be a little more difficult to notice when the days are upon us.
Matthew 24
1 Thessalonians 5 (ESV)
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you.
For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.
For you are all children of light, children of the day.
We are not of the night or of the darkness.
So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night.
But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Daniel 7:25 “He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.”
Daniel 12:7-12 “And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished.
I heard, but I did not understand.
Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?”
He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.
Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly.
And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
And from the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days.
Blessed is he who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days.”
1 Thessalonians speaks of Christ coming on the clouds.
Jesus tells the disciples that He will come again just as He leaves them, on the clouds.
The Tribulations are split into groups.
Some trials are forces of nature.
Others are super natural.
Many people think that when the physical switches to spiritual, then the Lord will rapture His church.
Some believe that the lack of the mention of the church throughout the tribulation means that there will be no saved people on the earth.
“The church will be gone”
(But there will be people saved throughout Revelation, and there will be tribulation saints *martyrs*.
How can this be without people there to witness?)
My take:
Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”
God will not take His children out of the fight when the heat is turned up.
We will escape His wrath, but we will not escape the wrath of man.
Therefore, many will be martyred.
A good coach does not pull his players in the 4 quarter with the game on the line.
Neither does the Lord in my opinion.
John 3:18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
1 Thessalonians 5:9 “For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,”
We have evaded God’s wrath for eternity.
This does not mean (IMO) that we will be completely spared throughout our lives from the trials of the flesh.
