The Gospel

What is righteousness?
Paul has a great job pointing out the the bad news of the human sinful condition and God’s condemnation that is a result of sin.
Trying to earn righteousness through ones own efforts isn’t enough. It just doesn’t work.
Paul points out that
Romans 3:23 CSB
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
But God has made a way to be declared not guilty, and it comes through trusting Jesus Christ and His atoning work to remove the stain of sin in our lives.
Trusting Jesus is putting our complete confidence in Him to forgive us our sins, to make us right with God, and for God to empower us to live holy lives walking in His ways.
Jesus is God’s solution, and it is available to all regardless of religious background or past sins.
In Romans 3:21-26 Paul lays out the Gospel as the Solution for righteousness
The Gospel Paul Lays Out:
The Sinfulness of Man (Rom 3:23)
The Righteousness of God proclaimed (Rom 3:21)
the Way of salvation is opened by faith (Rom 3:22)
A work of Grace (Rom 3:24)
Romans 3:21 CSB
But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, attested by the Law and the Prophets.
After pointing out the problem that everyone has, unrighteousness, Paul now use a sharp “But now” to shift the problem to God solution.
The Solution is Righteousness- Being in right standing with God
The Law showed what the requirements of right relationship are, yet everyone has broken the Law- as Paul Says “No one is righteous!”
Paul what does Paul say about the righteousness that bring Justification?
It is the Righteousness of God-
It is divine and not a human righteousness
It is the righteousness that was lost when Adam fell
Adam Lost it
It is the righteousness of God because it was the righteousness that God provided
Jesus is the means of righteousness
He is the means provided as compensation for human unrighteousness
It is a righteousness that comes apart from the Law
It is not a righteous that is concerned with our works to make it happen
it is the righteousness of God
It is the righteousness that has been manifested
It is the righteousness that both the Law and the Prophets pointed to
It is the righteous which only comes through faith in Jesus Christ
It is a righteousness that is for all who are unrighteous
