I. We Worship Jesus Because of Who He Is vs. 5a

A. Jesus is the faithful witness. All other witnesses, were not faithful. All had sinned. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, David, on and on until Jesus.
B. The firstborn of the dead. What does that mean? Well there were other resurrections:
Elijah and the widow’s son (I Kgs. 17:17-23)
Elisha and the Shunammite child (II Kgs. 4:32-37)
Elisha’s bones and the soldier (II Kgs. 13:21)
Jesus and the ruler’s daughter (Matt. 9:18-26)
Jesus and the son from Nain (Luke 7:11-17)
Lazarus (John 11:43-44)
John 11:43–44 NKJV
Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
C. What this means is that all these died and were resurrected in order to die again. Jesus died and was resurrected to die no more! This brings us comfort to know that we too will be resurrected to die no more. I Cor. 15:51-57
1 Corinthians 15:51–57 NASB95
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
D. Jesus is also the ruler over the kings of the earth. Another way of saying that is that He is king of kings and Lord of lords. Phil. 2:9-11
Philippians 2:9–11 NKJV
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

II. We Worship Jesus Because of What He Does For Us vs. 5b-6

A. There are many people who love us, in spite of what they know about us, but no one knows us and loves us like Jesus. (Wife/pitching a fit ex)
B. He washed us from our sins with His blood. He bled and died for us, in order to wash our sins away. I John 3:5
1 John 3:5 NKJV
And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
C. He makes us kings. That is we are adopted into His family. He can’t disown us!
D. He makes us priests. Pastors help you in this, but you don’t have to go through a pastor/priest. You have access to God directly! We have that kind of relationship with Jesus! “The only person who dares wake up a king at 3:00AM for a glass of water is a child. We have that kind of access”- Tim Keller
E. This matters, in order that we might live a life of worship!
