Intro: It’s been said that there are 4 stages that a nation goes
through.
#1- Is its birth.
a- Ours being July 4th 1776
#2- There is the stage of growing strong.
b- From the early 1900’s to today, no stronger nation than
the USA.
- Look at other nations during our time of growth.
* England, France, Japan, Germany, Soviet
Union.
#3- The 3rd stage is a deterioration that starts from within.
c- Look how the Soviet Union imploded, Iraq
#4- The last stage is the death of that nation.
d- Either ceasing to exist or a shell of its former self.
- For the most part there Dead nations walking.
Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
A- This applies to: an individual, family, culture, a movement
of God, a nation.
Ezekiel 18:20, The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
1- The point in which deterioration starts???
a- The overwhelming Presents of Pride.
- The attitude of look what I am and what I’ve
done.
Satan: Isaiah 14:14, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I
will be like the Most High.’
Nebuchadnezzar: Daniel 4:30-31, The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?” While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!
For Belshazzar: Daniel 5:25, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
The writing was on the wall.
Herod Agrippa: Acts 12:20-25
Proverbs 16:18-19, Pride goes before destruction (crushing), And a haughty spirit before a fall (stumbling). Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
1 Corinthians 4:7, For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Luke 12:48, ... For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; ...
> The charge this time is against Ephraim, not as a rep. of Israel,
but God is making it personal.
A- Ephraim = Born 2nd to Joseph and bless 1st by Jacob.
1- Joshua was from Ephraim as well as the 1st king of the
northern kingdom.
a- What do we see happening in our section of
scripture tonight.
- Ephraim has died and God is doing the
Autopsy.
Dictionary Definition: Autopsy = An operation done to Determine the cause of the casualty AND Establish the condition of the corps, for the record.
> Before Ephraim’s let’s look at Adam and Eve’s autopsy.
A- 1st, most important is the Presents of Pride.
Genesis 3:5, For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
1- Knowing that they should be submitted to God, Pride
Persuaded them to eat.
a- THE RESULT = Just as God said.
Genesis 2:17, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
2- The Autopsy reveals a 3 fold death: (remember the
make up of man).
1 Thessalonians 5:23, Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
a- SO looking at Adam and Eve, there is 1st a
death of Spirit.
- Man’s Spirit = The part of him that, when
alive, seeks fellowship with God.
Read Genesis 3:8-9
b- Their 2nd death is the death of their SOUL.
- Man’s Soul = His personality make up.
* Our likes and dislikes, dispositions,
ambitions, the moral and ethical side
of man’s nature.
Read Genesis 3:10-13
c- The 3rd death is the ultimate death of their
physical bodies.
Genesis 3:19, In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
- Until that time = “Dead mankind working”.
> NOW A NATION; because it’s the same thing when we open up
Ephraim.
#1- The 1st way that a nation dies is in Spirit.
Read Verse 1
A- This is when a people try to terminate their relationship
with God.
1- How do we hide from a relationship with God?
a- We use our time to worship BAAL
- Or as Germany did RACE.
- Or as Americans do STUFF.
2- This is when A consciousness of God dissipates and
then is deliberately removed.
a- The bible and prayer in school = a natural thing
to do.
b- To do it today = Prayer of all kinds and the
reading of every false thing.
Ephesians 2:1-3
#2- The 2nd way that a nation dies is in SOUL.
Read Verse 2
A- A nation who has dies in Spirit, will die in SOUL and the
symptoms will be.
1- A deterioration in national Character.
a- Gary Heart, Bill Clinton,
- The latest headline: Kerry alleges
misconduct in 2004 Ohio vote
2- A lowering of moral climate.
a- Abortion, Sexuality of all sorts, Increase in crime,
and disease of drugs.
- Do you really trust: Dr’s, Executives,
Politicians. Teachers.
3- (Repeat) A falling apart of the family.
Hosea 13:2, Now they sin more and more, And have made for themselves molded images, Idols of their silver, according to their skill; All of it is the work of craftsmen. They say of them, “Let the men who sacrifice (human) kiss the calves!”
#3- The 3rd way that a nation dies is in BODILY.
Read Verse 3
A- How does a body die?
1- One organ starts shutting down after another (chain
reaction).
a- How many nations have died cataclysmically?
- The police cease to be effective (Katrina)
- Courts become bogged down with technical
matter
- Politics become corrupt.
- Schools cease to educate, Workers cease to
work, Churches cease to function.
* Then the plug is pulled.
> Now in the remainder of the Chapter we are show who is the
puller of the plug.
A- When it comes to your relationship with God (and
EVERYONE will have a relationship with God) at death.
1- Is He going to be the giver or the taker of your life.
a- Savior or Executioner
b- Judge in anger or in grace.
d- Welcomer or condemner.
Read Verse 4
B- NOTICE how familiar this verse starts:
Exodus 20:1-2, And God spoke all these words, saying: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
1- God’s deliverance is our moral obligation to serve Him.
Read Verse 5-6
A- I was you shepherd but NOW you choose to ignore me.
1- BUT notice what occurs to the ones who ignore their
God.
a- The change is from deliverer to destroyer.

* Notice where else these four
animals also occur.

2- Lion = Babylonian empire, Bear = Medo-Persian
empire, Leopard = Grecian empire, 4th beast (monster)
Roman acuminating in the empire of the Anti-Christ.
a- God bringing the heather to bring judgment on
the hypothetical holy (Muslims)
A plea Verses 9-11
> Another image the Prophet uses is that of a child that refuses
to be born.

> Last image is of a Pending storm.

A- Israel is already dead, confirmed by autopsy.
1- Judah is sick and soon do die.
a- USA = Not feeling so good.
1 Corinthians 15:57, But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
