“ He is Worthy of Praise “

Psalm 113:1–9 NIV
1 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. 2 Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. 3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. 4 The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, 6 who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? 7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; 8 he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people. 9 He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord.
“ He is Worthy of Praise “
To many times we want EVERYTHING to be about us
Note: This sermon is to put the FOCUS on God and who God is and the awesomeness of God and not on US
When you and I
Can learn all that we can
About God
We will feel BETTER about our situation [ A lack of Knowledge ]
You see
It’s not about
How difficult our situation is
But how DYNAMIC our God is
Because of Who
God is
He’s Worthy & Deserving
Of All Praises
Worthy — How much He’s worth to you/me
Deserving — Theres No body like Him
And because the Lord
Knows what He is doing
In & Thru our lives
He is worthy of all our praise
And because God can
Reverse things - Cancel things - Stop things - Start things - Cause things - Allow things & make NO Mistakes
He is worthy of all praises
Praises is usually based
Off His performance
What He’s DONE
What He’s DOING
And What He will DO
And He’s worthy of the Praise
SEVEN HEBREW WORDS FOR PRAISE
1. HALLAL is a primary Hebrew root word for praise. Our word "hallelujah" comes from this base word. It means "to be clear, to praise, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish."
2. YADAH is a verb with a root meaning, "the extended hand, to throw out the hand, therefore to worship with extended hand, to lift the hands." According to the Lexicon, the opposite meaning is "to bemoan, the wringing of the hands."
3. TOWDAH comes from the same principle root word as yadah, but is used more specifically. Towdah literally means, "an extension of the hand in adoration, avowal, or acceptance."
4. SHABACH means, "to shout, to address in a loud tone, to command, to triumph."
5. BARAK means "to kneel down, to bless God as an act of adoration, to salute."
6. ZAMAR means "to pluck the strings of an instrument, to sing, to praise; a musical word which is largely
involved with joyful expressions of music with musical instruments.
7. TEHILLAH is derived from the word halal and means "the singing of halals, to sing or to laud; perceived to involve music, especially singing; hymns of the Spirit or praise.”
And there should be a time
When we use
All 7 of these Hebrew Praises
History Ps 113
The psalmist
called on all the Lord’s servants
everywhere to praise God
because even though
He is exalted on high
He lowers Himself to exalt the oppressed
In other words God is not to High to come DOWN
Psalm 113 adheres closely to
the standard pattern
for the descriptive praise psalms.
The psalm is bracketed
by the exclamation “Hallelujah!”
The call to praise in vv. 1–3
is addressed to the servants of the Lord
in every location.
The cause for praise
considers the Lord’s greatness
in vv. 4–6
and his goodness in vv. 7–9b
and in particular
The Lord’s care for the needy.
The concluding
“Hallelujah!” in v. 9c
functions as a brief renewed call to praise - Do it again
In spite of God
Being Awesome - Wonderful - Good - Great - Immutable - Worthy - Gracious
It can be difficult
To praise Him
When life is hard
And you can bet
Your bottom dollar
When life is difficult
It’s even more difficult
To praise God
Because EVERYTHING becomes difficult
[ Difficult ] Waking up - Going to Working - Doing Devotion - Getting Dress - Starting your day - Coming to Church — Putting a Smile on your face
God’s praise should not
Be stop because of our
Problems and difficult times in life
Because when we stop
Our Praise
God don’t stop our breath
As much as you
Want to praise God
There’s something on the inside
That’s bothering you
Vexing you
And hindering you
From praising God
As much as God
Desires our praise
To Him
It’s hard to give God what He Sho’ nuff deserve
Psalm 113:3 NIV
3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
God has to get praise
Even in the midst
Of our roughest moments
Let me tell you WHY He is Worthy of our Praise
Psalm 113:4–5 NIV
4 The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high,
When you read
Verse 4-5
It might not mean much to you
Because you’re wondering
How does that HELP YOU
Well it helps you
By realizing who God is
1st The Lord is High & Lifted
He’s over the Nations ( V4 )
He’s Above the Heavens ( V4 )
He’s Seated on High ( V5 )
These are the 3 things
That the writer says
About God
The God we serve
Is High
He’s so High
Until He’s Over
The Nations
He’s so High
Until He’s Above
The Heavens
He’s so High
Until He’s Seated on High
These 3 designations of God
Him being Over
Him being Above
Him Seated on High
They speaks of the Lord
Positional Authority
He is in Position
To help us
And because He’s over the Nations
Above the Heavens
And Seated on High
That means for you & I
That where God is
He is in Position to come to our rescue
He is in Position
To meet our need
He is in Position
To dry our Tears
He is in Position
To hold your hand
Note: That blesses me because I have had Friends Family & Church Folks that said they would be there for me when I’m in need & when things get rough [ But when that time came
Friends & Family was not there
Or in position to help me
But thanks be to God
That God was in Position
To help me thru
The text teaches us
Based on where God is
Positionally
He can always come
To our rescue
Psalm 113:6 NIV
6 who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?
Look at the vantage point
That God has
Because He’s
Over — Above — Seated on High
Verse 6 says
He’s up there looking
Down on us
He’s Supervising our suffering
[ 3 Things you need to know about Suffering ]
1st Suffering is Predicted
Job 14:1 KJV 1900
1 Man that is born of a woman Is of few days, and full of trouble.
2 Timothy 3:12 KJV 1900
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Revelation 2:10 KJV 1900
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Trouble is not an
Indication that you’re
Outside the will of God
Sometimes trouble
Is confirmation
That you’re doing the will of God
1st Suffering is Predicted
2nd Suffering can be Painful
2 Corinthians 1:3–9 (KJV 1900)
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
We have to shed tears
Because John 11:35 says 35 Jesus wept.
Jesus shed tears
We have to get stabbed
In the back
Because Jesus was Pierce in the side
People will walk away
From you
because people walked
Away from Him
Pain is painful
it’s painful Losing a Child - Losing a Parent - Losing A Love one - Divorce - Bankruptcy - Church hurt - Friends walking away - People you thought was your friends
1st Suffering is Predicted
2nd Suffering can be Painful
3rd Our Suffering is being Patrol
God is sitting high
And watching over us
And that means
We can’t suffering one day longer
Than God says so
I can Praise God Because
1st He’s high & Lifted ( V4-5 )
2nd He Helps the Lowly ( V7 )
Explain the Haves & The have nots
James Cone
Who is credited
For being the father
Of Liberation Theology
Puts it like this
“ God is a God of the Oppress “
That whenever theres an underdog
God is on their side
James Cone suggest
That God is never with the Majority
He’s always on the side
Of the Minority
The text says
That He helps the lowly
By Lifting them
No matter how
Bad things are
In your life
Because you’re still here
God has lifted you up
Elevation came along with our Salvation
Psalm 113:7 NIV
7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
Psalm 3:3 KJV 1900
3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; My glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
Example: Me at a hotel with a pool & hot tub but I can’t swim but I make sure I stay above it. I’m comfortable being in it as long I’m above it
God didn’t take
You out of it
He let you stay in it
But you are above it
And because your
Head is above it
You got enough strength
[ You’re in it but Above it ]
1st He’s High & Lifted ( V4-5 )
2nd He Helps the Lowly ( V7 )
God is concerned about the LEAST — THE LAST — THE LOST — THE LEFTED OUT
3rd He Heals the Lamenting ( V9 )
