Genesis 2:2-25 NIV - Where the series came from

INTRO- me/we: The most amazing place on earth. / Intro the series-

Purpose. Proximity, but ultimately, you are seeking peace.
Phil4:6 - peace that passes all understanding that will guard your heart and mind in ChristFear of’

I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO AVOID THE FEAR, BUT MAYBE I CAN CONTROL IT IN MY WORLD.

YOUR PROXIMITY WITH THE FATHER IS ENOUGH TO HANDLE ALL THAT WE NEED.

THE CLOSER YOU GET TO THE HEART OF GOD, THE MORE YOU REALIZE THAT INSIDE HIM, HE CONTAINS ALL THAT IS NECESSARY.

PICTURE THE GARDEN- THE VERY FIRST OF CREATION

We cannot lose the importance of being alone - We pour so much of our lives into purpose, bc we are seeking to fill the places where we are most vulnerable. Alone is discovery. // BUT ALONE IS ALSO VULNERABILITY.

CONVERSATION WITH CRYSTAL EARLIER THIS WEEK. // AUSTIN CONCUSSION

LOSE THE SENSE OF TIME IN THE BIBLE. / Ge 1 / Development takes time.

WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR TIME / WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR DEVELOPMENT

Ge 4:3- “in the course of time.”
painting in broad strokes here, not fine detail // trust.
Ge5- First few verses. Adam finally passes away after 930 years of life.
If Adam dies in Genesis 5 at 900+ years old and Abram makes his appearance on the earth around 2000 years before Christ, then 2000 years have passed between - in the beginning God created, and Genesis 12 - “Terah became the father of Abram.”

Time is absolutely essential to the process of Who we need to become in Christ.

2Cor5:8-absence from the body is presence with the Lord.” and Paul said in Phil 1: 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

Ge2:7-21// WHEN YOU EXPERIENCE SOMETHING NEW. THE TREASURE OF DISCOVERY. THERE’S JUST SOMETHING AMAZING ABOUT FINDING NEW. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE BEFORE THAT WEARS OFF AND YOU NEED SOMETHING NEW AGAIN?

I think this happened for Adam, but it took a while.
You see time and space are different when it comes to the Lord.

2Peter 3:8-9 NIV But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

When you feel you need it most, the Lord is just beginning his stopwatch of development.

How many years do you supposed Adam spent in that garden alone with the Lord? Before the Lord brought him to a place of saying, you need something more.
How customary do you think it became that Adam and God walked together?

<<Keys beginning>>

Genesis 3:8 - the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day // as predictable as a Mexican siesta.
Alone is vital to the establishment of our person in Christ. v7 - God formed man. English doesn’t do justice to what is being said here. The variants of language.- something said one way in one language may not fully contain what is said in another. Translation is troubling. That’s why it is important to study the word of God. 2 Tim 2:15- Study to show yourself
In this passage, several times we are told that Adam was formed by God.
Genesis 1:27- God created mankind in his own image
Genesis 2:7- Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 2:7- 8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.
There’s a difference between a forming and a creating.
To create it to craft. It’s to demonstrate a work built.
To form is to process. Forming takes/requires thought, intentionality and specific decision.
yaw-tsar (through the squeezing into shape); to mould into a form; especially as a potter; figuratively, to determine (i.e. form a resolution):—× earthen, fashion, form, frame, make(-r), potter, purpose.
There is specific work happening with Adam’s forming and there is nothing different from you either.
You are being formed in the image of God and that takes time with the maker.

Homeschool kid, found a potter in New Mexico that would teach us.

What you spend time with will determine the way in which you are formed.

BEcoming is key.
The only formative moments I get are the ones that are created through my time communing with the Father.
Andrea- time at the table.
