Mark is mesmerized at the thought of seeing Jesus come up out of that body of water following his baptism and seeing the sign proofs that He is God, that God was there and that the Spirit came too. He’s so convinced and confident in the life changing power of Jesus that he wants anyone he comes in contact with to also know that truth. He wants there to be zero chance that you will come in contact with Christ and not walk away changed. In fact, he wants to cause the bump into him to happen.

MARK 1:1-15 / INTRO: ME/WE- ALONG THE WAY, DESTINATIONS, CAMPFIRE STORIES. THE STORIES FORM THE EXPERIENCES, THE EXPERIENCES SHAPE THE MEMORIES.

WHAT WE’RE GOING TO EXPERIENCE ALONG THE WAY THROUGH MARK.
V2- “AS IT IS WRITTEN” MARK TELLING YOU THEY WAY…
MATTHEW, EYEWITNESS / JOHN, / LUKE, /
MARK, LATE SUBSCRIBER. “IMMEDIATELY” “THEN THEY CAME TO”.

Discipleship is only fully discipleship when it becomes 2nd generation.

he was around the movement of Jesus but not directly involved.
He’s heard / Encountered
GOD INTENDED THAT MARK WOULD COME TO THE TABLE AFTER THE FACT TO PROVE TO YOU THAT IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU’RE NOT READY WHEN THE STARTING SIGNAL SOUNDS.
Mark & Peter- “you should come / follow him, I’ll teach what Jesus taught me -> how to be fisher of men.”
Very few people want to go and do their own thing. NO they want to be involved in your thing.

Austin’s letter to mom- I like that Dad does things with us, that he teaches us things and helps us learn.

2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare
Jesus Baptism. Why did Jesus need baptism? He wasn’t a sinner. Baptism is the public declaration of your inner decision to follow Christ. Set the example. Do as he does.
Repentance/Forgiveness. Hung up on our own expectations. AWFUL. ch.2 is a guy coming to Jesus because he can’t walk and Jesus response to him is simply, Oh that’s nice, that you came today to see me, he saw their faith and said to the guy who couldn’t walk - your sins are forgiven.”
Well frankly, Jesus- THAT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

BECAUSE ETERNITY LOOKS SO FAR AWAY, OUR FOCUS REMAINS FIXED ON WHAT I NEED FOR TODAY

JESUS CAME TO BRING FORGIVENESS, RESTORATION AND HEALING FOR OUR GREATEST PROBLEM, NOT FOR SOME TEMPORARY INSTANCE OF DISCOMFORT.

SO LONG AS WE REMAIN FIXATED ON THE AREAS OF OUR DISCOMFORT, IT WILL ALWAYS FEEL THAT GOD DOESN’T CARE ABOUT OUR WANTS OR NEEDS.

<<Keys Beginning>> Spirit Drove Jesus into the wilderness. Literally threw him out there. For temptation.

Transitions from a great majestic moment. Heb 4:15- he’s been tempted, yet without sin.

We look at the toughness as torture, but in reality it’s just preparation.

At any moment, the devil was there to provide Jesus instantaneous relief.
When we begin to take in Jesus, like Mark did, we begin to become enamored with the love and kindness of Christ. There’s this invitation extended for us to come and join also, NEXT WEEK, but 1st, we’ve got to recognize the purpose of it all, REPENT AND BELIEVE V14-15.
I NEED A LITTLE MORE TIME WITH JESUS.
