Jesus is praying for us!!!!

This is what Jesus prays for us. This is a intercessor prayer.
this is a prayer that Jesus has for us all.
When reading this prayer we can apply this to our own lives because
John 17:6–12 NASB95
6 “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 “Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me. 9 “I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 “I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. 12 “While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
John 17:6 NASB95
6 “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
manifested - to make known, exposed publicly, to reveal
Jesus made the Father known to those who would believe in Him
This is through His earthly ministry
Jesus made God known.
through the Gospels we see the heart, gentleness, mercy, love, respect, and power of God Himself.
God gave them to Jesus out of this world.
They belonged to God, and God gave them to belong to Jesus’ ministry
“They are mine…now you go and fine tune them, teach them, show them...”
again we have the chance to see the beauty of the relationship between the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
John 17:7–8 NASB95
7 “Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
Jesus explains that they have seen and now understand that Jesus is from God, and is God
They may not know everything…. they may not understand every thing, but they belong to Him.
in Belonging it is only s matter of time.
and they know that Jesus is Lord
so it is only a matter of time when they will be conformed and be transformed to the image of Christ.
Romans 8:29 NASB95
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
God Knew, and promises that we will be conformed to Jesus’ image
The conform means to have a similar form, in nature and style
it is not compromise,
God is not saying that we will compromise ourselves to be like Jesus,
but that through the Holy Spirit will will turn, be changed to the nature and style of Jesus Himself.
What a beautiful thought
(Old woman heart beat story)
John 17:9–10 NASB95
9 “I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.
Jesus is praying for those who are in Him, but the ones that are not In Him he is not praying for.
This pray is not for those sinners in the world, but those who have accepted Him as Lord and savior.
Jesus is making an Exclusive prayer for those who are his.
Believers of Jesus Christ, who Jesus Christ is Lord of your life, you BELONG to Him and the Father. You belong to God.
Why have we forgotten who we belong to?
sin runs ramped in our lives,
we are beat down by life’s matters,
we have accepted false thinking,
we have allowed unforgivness to reign in our lives
we have allowed temptation to dominate our world
we have allowed ourselves to be in the gutter, drinking the water that we bath in
we have rejected the truth and settled for a counterfeit.
We would rather enjoy the Beauty, deceiving beauty of the masquerade and the face the truth
we are in the pig pit (Luke 15:16)
WE HAVE FORGOTTEN WHO WE BELONG TO.
John 17:11 NASB95
11 “I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are.
Jesus’ work in the world is done. And He is going to be with the Father,
He is leaving the world
But His disciples are still in the world
a world that hate them
a world that is full of sin and rejection
the Disciples are remaining
Jesus prays for them.
That they abide.
that they stay the course
this is the intercessory prayer
John 17:12 NASB95
“While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
Durning Jesus’ earthly ministry He protected the disciples and kept them safe.
none of the perished or fell into into destruction
but the son of perdition - (meaning waste, destruction)
Jesus talks of Judas.
Son of perdition
The same Greek word is used in 2 Thessalonians 2:3
2 Thessalonians 2:3 NASB95
Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,
The son of destruction /perdition are the same Greek word.
Although 2 Thessalonians talks about the end times, and the antichrist.
We can say that Jesus is referring to Judas as a form, or part of antichrist.
This would lead us to consern. We must self evaluate
antichrist is not to character that we may expect……………
We must make sure that we are in Christ…….
