Hosea 11:1-12:10, God's Unceasing Love
Hosea 11:12-10, God’s Unceasing Love
Judgment is inevitable [Hosea 11:7-8: And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him. How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together].
Israel did not respond to the call for obedience. Israel was bent on backsliding. She refused to praise Him. They were determined to sin. God did not give up on Israel. Praise God that He is not going to let His church go through the tribulation.
God judges our sin. Their sins are the cause of their going into bondage. Judah also turned to idolatry. The Lord will help us if we call Him. Turn to God for His mercy. Imitate God. Wait on the LORD continually. [Psalm 27:14: Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD]. Be rich with spiritual richness. [Psalm 62:10, Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them]. Jehovah is their only true God.
God spoke by the prophets. God warned Israel by His prophets. [Hosea 12:10, I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets]. In spite of God’s grace and mercy, both the northern and southern tribes turn away to idols.
Admah and Zeboim were cities that were near Sodom and Gomorrah [Genesis 10:19, And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha]. God destroyed Admah and Zeboim when he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. [Genesis 19:24-25: Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground].
Hosea 11:8: How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
God is the one true God. [Hosea 12:9: And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast].
Hosea 11:11: They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD]. When they got in trouble, they called on Egypt and Assyria. We shall call on the Lord.
God chastises His people. [Hosea 12:14: Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his LORD return unto him].
It is important to heed the Word of God and submit to Him.
