Thanking God Is About Remembering Who He Is & All He’s done - And Choosing to Give Him All the Praise.

· Here’s what he says about it: “There is too much in the Psalm, for a thousand pens to write, it is one of those all-comprehending Scriptures which is a Bible in itself, and it might alone almost suffice for the hymn-book of the church.

1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

1. Halel: to rave, boast, celebrate.

2. Yadah: to acknowledge in public

Psalm 138:1—I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart.

3. Zamar: making music to God with strings.

Psalm 92:1—It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High.

4. Shabach: to address in a loud tone, to shout.

Psalm 63:3-4—Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5. Towdah: to lift hands in adoration.

Psalm 50:23—He who offers praise glorifies Me: and to him that orders his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.

6. Tehilah: exuberant singing.

Psalm 34:1—I will extol the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.

7. Barak: to bless by kneeling or bowing.

Our praise should flow from a fresh remembrance of who God is and all He has done.

1. Remember He Forgives.

“He forgives all your sins.”

· 1 Jn. 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleans us from all unrighteousness.”

3. Remember He Redeems.

“…who redeems your life from the pit.”

· The word redeem means, “to buy back.”
· 1 Peter 1:18-20 says, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.”

4. Remember He Crowns.

“…and crowns you with love and compassion.”

invite Him into it./Healer to Heal, Comforter to Comfort, Provider to Provide
· Don’t seek out any other source of comfort or coping mechanism. Invite the Provider into your need for provision.
· Invite the Healer into your need of healing. Invite the Comforter into your need of comfort.
· Command your soul, make a list of your history with God, and declare His goodness over your life.
- Think about the 11th hour breakthroughs.
- Think about a time He healed you.
- Think about a relationship that was healed that you know could have only been God moving.
· In a painful moment that we were in years ago, my family and I went to the Lord in prayer.

Close your eyes and tell God something that you remember.

“I Remember When God _______.”

· Tell your soul your story.
· Then, today at lunch, tell someone else a time that you remember God moving on your behalf.

The Question is Not, “CAN you remember God’s goodness?” It’s “WILL you remember God’s Goodness?”Make a choice to remember.
