John 10:22–30 (ESV) — 22 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem.

It was winter, 23 and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon.

24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense?

If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe.

The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

30 I and the Father are one.”

I. WHO ARE YOU?

Matthew 16:13–17 (ESV) — 13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah!

For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

John 10:7 (ESV) — 7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

II.

YOU DO NOT BELIEVE

John 10:25 (ESV) — 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe.

The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me,

Matthew 5:14–16 (ESV) — 14 “You are the light of the world.

A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

John 10:26 (ESV) — 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep.

III.

THE SHEEP OF THE SHEPHERD

John 10:14–18 (ESV) — 14 I am the good shepherd.

I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold.

I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice.

So, there will be one flock, one shepherd.

17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.

18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.

I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again.

This charge I have received from my Father.”

John 10:27–30 (ESV) — 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

1 Corinthians 11:23–26 (ESV) — 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.

Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
