Obituary

Francis R Bossio was born on November 24, 1941 in Amsterdam, NY and passed away on February 6, 2022.
He joined the Marines in 1959 and was a rifleman who received a good conduct medal before he left the service in 1963.
Francis worked for the state of New York for 33 years during which time he received the commissioner’s award for valor before his retirement.
He married Judith Ann Harris-Jimison on November 25, 2000. They continued to live in Amsterdam for 21 years until his death.
Judith returned back to Ramona to make her home where she grew up.
Today, we lay Frank to rest and he will one day see Judith; again in heaven where they will be with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eulogy

Life is short.

We are reminded during these difficult times that “life is short.”
James 4:14 (ESV)
…What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Job 14:1 (ESV)
1 Man who is born of a woman is few of days…
Because life is short always be thankful for the time you had with Francis and the time you have been given with those still here.
We are also are reminded of the importance of…

Relying On Others.

When we go through these truly life changing events we discover who is there for us and who we can count on.
Make sure you are taking every opportunity to allow those that love you to help you with this great grief.
Family and friends are invaluable during this time.
However, there is one who is far greater than family and friends at comforting us and that is our God.
When Jesus’ disciples ask Jesus to pray, Jesus knew the types of danger and heartache they would endure.
Jesus knew the friends and family they would lose, and yet he offered this prayer as a model to them…
Matthew 6:9–13 ESV
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
The reason I bring this up is that there is something powerful in this little message for us today.
That message then and now is “Know “your God” is great, that he has made a way for us to have a relationship with him forever, and that he knows us and considers us precious enough to listen to our “daily” needs.
Or ass Job points out in Job 28:10
Job 28:10 (ESV)
10 …his eye sees every precious thing.
It is great and important to rely on family and friends but relying on God is most important because he knows you best and loves you the most.

Conclusion

Because we do not know how long we will have on this earth there are two vital thoughts I want us to consider as we close.
First, we must never take the time we have with our surviving family and friends for granted.
Lean on them and hold close to their kindness and gentleness during this time.
Second, we must use the time granted to us left to draw closer on to God through his precious word because as Jesus told his creation long ago…
Matthew 11:28–29 ESV
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Let us pray…
Father as we come before you this day I pray that you will be a comfort to Francis’ family. I pray that they will have those comforting and encouraging memories of Francis as they go through these challenging times right now. We are so thankful Father, for your Son sent by you to this earth to be our eternal sacrifice and for the hope that has been offered and created through that sacrifice. We pray Father that we hold close to that hope and that your light is show to this fine family through those that know you best. It’s in your Son’s most holy name we pray, amen.
