From Egypt to Canaan
ISRAEL: Delivered From Egypt
Message was weakened because captivity Some need to flee Egypt while others need deliverers Deliverance from Egypt is a process (2 Cor.1:10)
Secured fact – free from penalty of sin Future promise – freed at Christ’ coming from presence of sin Present process – “we are being delivered” Without God deliverance from Egypt is impossible Freedom is possible once Pharaoh is conquered; don’t fight captives but captivator (Mt.12:29) With every battle Egypt decreases If it wouldn’t have been for the lamb not only they wouldn’t have been delivered but they would be dead Blood accomplished what battles couldn’t conquer As the lamb replaced you in death, so you ought to replace him in life (Ex.13:2)
To revenge is to kill the one that killed your son; to do justice is to let the law deal with him; to have grace is to forgive and adopt that person that killed your son
II ISRAEL: Possessing Canaan
It’s harder to get into Canaan then to get out from Egypt If God would ever wanted to leave you He would do so in Egypt (not in wilderness) Wilderness is much better then slavery, so don’t complain Wilderness reveals hidden you (Deut.8:2) Wilderness tests your foundation (Deut.8:3; Mt.7:24-27) Similarities between leaving Egypt and entering Canaan:
Both were a process (Ex.23:30; Deut.7:22) Both were a battle (Joshua 18:3)
