Welcome: Good evening, for those who may not know me, my name is Kent and I’m the youth pastor here at Crosspoint and I want to welcome you all to our combined worship night.
1. We are going to have some announcements from both Hype and EBC Student ministries and we will then have a leader from each group pray for the other group.
2. We will sing a couple of songs.
3. Ice Camp save the date announcement.

Introduction

I want you to think of a time where you have made a commitment to someone or something.
Maybe you’ve committed yourself to a sports team, a school club, or a theatre. Maybe you’ve committed yourself in a relationship with someone else.
Whatever it is, I think it’s safe to say that we understand the concept of committing to someone or something. When we make a commitment there is various ways to live out that commitment.
If you’re on a sports team, you can show up to practice on time, you can encourage your teammates during a game, you can train on your own time in areas of your sport. Whether it’s footwork, strength and conditioning, etc.
If you have made a relational commitment. You’ve commitment to be intentional with that person. This looks like asking them questions, getting to know them, caring for them, giving encouragement, gifts, etc.
Do you get the picture? There are multiple ways to practically live out the commitment you have made.
The same goes for those of us who have confessed Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives.

Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our Lives

To confess this means,
I am aware that I’m a sinner in need of saving and I confess or proclaim that Jesus is the only sufficient savior because of His death on the cross.
Most of us would agree with that statement and that would be easy for us to see and acknowledge.
The second part of this is to confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
2. This means that I am giving up control of my life. When I confess Jesus as Lord, I am saying that Jesus is king in my life and I will submit to what He wants from my life. I no longer live to serve my own interests but rather I now live to serve Jesus Christ and follow what He commands me to do. In other words I am making a commitment to obey Jesus and follow His commands.
This part of confessing Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our Lives is usually the harder for most of us. This is because we usually have a hard time saying no to serving ourselves and our own interests. We continually have to fight against our selfishness.
There are may be people who confess Jesus as Savior but there are fewer people who are willing to confess Jesus as Savior and Lord and commit their lives to Jesus as King.
So to confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of my life is me acknowledging I’m a sinner in need of saving and Jesus is the only way to be saved and I am committing my life to Jesus as He is Lord and King of my life. Here is where the commitment analogy that I referenced earlier comes to mind. When we make a commitment to Jesus there are many, MANY, ways to practically live out our commitment to Jesus. One way we can live out our commitment to Jesus is by sharing Jesus with others.
Sharing Jesus with Others slide here
Walk to one side of the stage.
We make a commitment to someone or something- That commitment can be lived out in many ways- One way to live out a commitment to a sports team for example is to show up to practice on time.
Walk back to the same one side of the sage.
2. We make a commitment to Jesus as Savior and Lord of our lives- That commitment can be lived out in many ways as we obey His commands- One of those many ways to live out a commitment to Jesus as Lord is to share Jesus with others.
For the rest of our lesson tonight we will be focusing on this, how to share Jesus with others.

Sharing Jesus With Others

First we need to go the bible to see what the inspired word of God says about sharing Jesus with others.
Matthew 28:18-20.

18 Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Here we see a clear command from Jesus to go spread the gospel and make disciples.
This is something that many of us have heard; through Sunday school, in youth group, and during Sunday morning sermons. Go share Jesus with others. We’ve heard this many times. I think we understand the what behind sharing Jesus but what is not as much understood is how to do it.
