Let Us Pray Like Jesus - Hebrews 5:7 & 4:16

I. Jesus made a prayer a priority.

      • A. He prayed early. (Mark 1:35).
      • B. He prayed at key times. (Lk. 3:21-22; 6:12-13; 9:28ff; 22:39ff).

II. Jesus understood the importance of solitude. (Matt. 14:22ff; Mk. 1:35; Lk. 5:15-16; Psalm 46:10).

III. Jesus understood the importance of submission.

      • A. He knelt to pray. (Luke 22:39-45; Ps. 95:6; Acts 20:36; 21:5).
      • B. He prayed for God's will to be done. (Lk. 22:41-42).

IV. Jesus showed us what to pray.

      • A. For God's glory. (John 12:27-28; 17).
      • B. Thank you. (John 11:4ff; I Cor. 11:23-24; Matt. 14:19).
      • C. For others. (Lk. 22:31-32; 23-34; John 17).
      • D. For Himself. (Lk. 22:41ff).

V. Jesus continues to pray for us. (Heb. 7:25; 9:24; Rom. 8:34; I Jn. 2:1,2; Rom. 8:26-27, 34).

I will follow Jesus in prayer and obedience.
