Well, good morning everyone. It's great to see everyone here and worship this morning is great to have you worshiping With Us online this morning, I'm tied to John the past year, for you and see like to welcome everyone to worship first. For those of you online, if you could grab a candle during the announcements and as an act like it comes down to light, the candles in the sanctuary on the altar table, you light the candle where you are and make that place your sanctuary as you worship with us. This morning, got a couple quick announcements for you first. Don't forget you and W this evening or this afternoon at 3 p.m. we'll meet in the admin building and it still be discussing Thanksgiving and Christmas plans. So all ladies are invited to come and participate in the discussion. So you can have some input in it, and you can also know what's going on, where help might be needed for that choir practice No, no choir. Practice is Wednesday. Okay. I was looking at us like salt October 12th is like is that this Wednesday trying to do the math real fast? So no choir practice this Wednesday but the following as I will be at 7 p.m. so if you want to participate in the choir sing with the choir, help out in any way. Come on Wednesday nights or reach out to Sarah and she can get you plugged in and out way, impact is going to be taking this Sunday. I took this Sunday off is going to be taking next Sunday off as we have our Fall, Festival on the 16th. So there will be no breakfast in the morning or Sunday School classes home as Cody and Colton and others will be said no for Fall Festival. That's going to take place after worship next Sunday. We'll have our kind of monthly Gathering that we were doing before. Summer back on will have soups, Chili's and other things and they will have a cake auction. This is a great opportunity for you to invite a friend that you know, that they don't want to come to worship at the church and fight them just to come and have lunch with us. At the church, you know, that's open to all and we love to have them and then they want if they want to bid on a cake, I know we have a number of cakes set up for that auction. So if you'd like to add a cake to it or knows, we need any more cakes, reach out to Cody and k, k going to keep a list of that, he's been the one kind of organizing that. And I believe the soups are already taken care of, if I remember correctly. That's right. So, next week, you can come to worship and then just go enjoy lunch and fellowship and then have the cake auction. I know they'll be games and other things happening over there. Upcoming events.

Let me before I get to the company events on October 27th. 22nd, there's two things happening will have a men's breakfast here at 9 a.m. if you would like to help out or like to come eat, please reach out to David Gordon so that he can get a number of who's coming. And also if you like to help out ask him cuz he's the one organizing that and then from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Villa Rica first, they're having a fall craft Bazaar. So we've been invited to come over there and support that was are. So if you'd like, to go see some fall craft ideas and or also purchase things, you can go over to Villa Rica first from 10 to 3 p.m. next week.

This afternoon for our adult Bible. Say we are going to cancel it this afternoon just because its fall break. We had a couple people want that they're going to be out of town in town type thing. So but if you'd like to participate in it, we're doing Kris the Christian atheist by Craig groeschel. From what I was reading in the guide for leaving it it's more of a video or one with a book being a supplemental thing. So even if you don't want to read the book you can come and participate. I was telling Brenda don't worry about reading or reading chapter one will actually watch a video have that discussion and then the book says the reach the intro in chapter one after that discussion. But if you want to read ahead, I'm not going to punish you or take so long to take points off of your grade for that. So, I had to throw that in there, so this week we'll take off the next week, will be back meeting at 5:30 in the admin building for our Bible study. And if anyone would like book to read the book, I've got some Upfront for a couple to 1550. Is that what we figured out $15.50 each just drop a check or money in the offering plate, just Mark for the literature for Bible study and we'll get a reply to that. We're slowly dwindling down on our upcoming events. Thankfully that means less meetings, but we're adding other events that are good things for us. So, of course you and W this afternoon trustees tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. So if you're on trustees, please be here. I will put out a zoom link for that later. Either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Finances going to meet on Thursday, October 13th at 6:30 p.m. I'll have a zoom link for that. Probably, I'll probably put that out Tuesday just so that there's no confusion on those for those. I have to attend both or will be attending both fall festivals next Sunday, the 16th at 12 p.m. following worship. October 22nd is the Men's breakfast at 9 a.m. October 24th is admin council meeting. So if you serve on a man counsel, make sure you got that Martin your calendar. That's the last meeting before charge Conference of be sure. You're here for that and I'll have a zoom link for that. Also and then October 29th we'll have truck or treat. That's that Saturday before Halloween. I was about to say Christmas Saturday before Halloween will have that event and will have the exact time Later as Cody in a k and is kind of figuring that out as we speak. So are there any other announcements for the good of the congregation? Yes, sir. Villa Rica first is now selling pumpkins the funds for the raising funds for the Youth to do events, ski trip mission trips, other things like that. So if you could, if you would like to buy a pump and go over there, every now and then Laurel, I worked at yesterday for community service hours, for her, Junior, Beta Club, and purple, Pearls at school. If she's working at either, Amy, I have to be there in fortune liso.

Yeah, they have to bring the youth have to bring their own adults so they sign up they have to bring their own adult. So please go over there and support that Ministry. It may be a little bit more expensive than going to Walmart, but Walmart goes to funding a big business. Where is this goes to helping used to be able to do ministry thing. So I would suggest going over there. They have a dormant of pumpkins different colors, different sizes. They have some acorn squash has or turban squash has. And so Yeah, we go over there and support that. Yes, ma'am. Are there any other announcements

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ, shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or Peril or sword. No, in all things we are more than conquerors through. The one who loved us. We are sure that neither death nor life nor angels, nor principalities nor things present, nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Our lord thanks be to God.

You may be seated. Now we come to the time and service, where we take our Joys and concerns, the Lord and asked the congregation. What are your Joys and concerns this morning?

Yes, sir.

Life is great. You haven't seen him in 2 years ago. It's great to have you all here in just so you all know Eliza had, that's a right this time. I remember saying I was trying to make sure I said it right this time had carpal tunnel surgery. Correct. So that's why she has a brace on or flexible cast on her wrist. So we'll continue prayers for your recovery from that surgery. Hopefully, it helps you out. I know carpal tunnel is not something easy to deal with some

Oh yeah, just so you all know. Amy, just found out this past week. She does have Copa carpal tunnel in both wrists, so being prayers for her. As she waits for the doctors to say was what the next step is.

Jim Donnell is home from the hospital. He said, was they know he did not have a heart attack outside of that, they don't know why he was having chest pains. Of course, she said she was extremely exhausted and tired from being at the hospital so there could be like might have told her and just forgot in the moment. So continued prayers for Jim and I know as I deal with so many health concerns Marty how's Mom doing?

Good day today so far. She's still at home. Correct, that's a good thing. So continued prayers for Martha, as she deals with c-diff and other health issues.

are Marty and Tim, as Pray for the Reeves household, that's why the best way to put it. Are there any others?

Well, as we get ready to go to the Lord in prayer, I invite you to sing. Only trust him founding Hymnal on page 3:37 or on the screen and we're going to be singing verse 1.

As we go to the Lord in prayer, I'll invite you to First, go silently, lifting up. Those prayers of your hearts Will Follow That by the Pastoral of clothes with the Lord's Prayer. Let us pray.

O God, our creator.

You are the creator of so many things.

Through your creation. You have become the master painter.

Painting, beautiful sceneries and beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

blue skies, and Leaves changing color as we've entered fall.

Oh God, we're thankful for that. We're thankful for the opportunity to get outside in cooler weather.

To not have to fight the oppression. Of heat. For the air conditioner. Not be turned on as much.

The warm sun. To touch our face.

Look out while we are in the need of rain right now, we are thankful for this time of sun.

An opportunity to get out and enjoy it. To be among friends and family. A sporting events at picnics. A Catherine's Lord.

We thank you.

We thank you for the opportunity to gather in this place of worship.

To be able to gather together to sing praises to you. The offer prayers. Hear word from you, Lord.

Be able to gather worldwide. Their technology.

Wall worship takes place here, takes place everywhere Lauren. Without the wisdom and knowledge that you have provided others, we wouldn't have that opportunity. To reach those.

Another cities counties States and maybe even countries Lord.

We got this morning, we come to you, lifting up the silent prayers of our hearts.

While we weren't able to hear them in this place, you heard them aloud. You know, them by name. You know what they are dealing with.

We ask that you provide healing to them to comfort them during this time.

Or God we lift it up names aloud or dealing with illnesses pain suffering.

Recovery.

Questions and anxieties. We ask for your healing hands, to fall upon them. To wrap them in your loving and comforting arms and hold them tight. So remind them that they can lay those anxieties and worries at your altar Lord.

That you will provide a yoke. That is light.

But their friends and family and community of faith will carry with them. Lord. And help them and guide them through. Whatever it is, they're going through Lord.

But even in the midst of all this, we find joy, as we hear of healing hear of recovery, Hero of good days. Set a reminder that you are still active today as you were in biblical times.

It's a reminder of your healing and your love in our lives. Lord. We thank you for that.

And we thank you for your son in the example that he provided us.

In the words that he taught us to pray saying, Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us. Our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but Deliver Us from Evil. For thine is the kingdom. The power and the glory forever. Amen. Now, I invite the ushers and act like for for this morning's offering.

Let us pray as we thank you for all the blessings that you have bestowed upon us. this morning, Lord, we were turning a small portion of the ad and our ties and offering To say, thank you.

Thank you for all that you've done. And we ask that you lay your hands on these ties and offerings and bless them. So they may grow to do, Great and Mighty things in your name, for your kingdom here on Earth. Purse in your son, Jesus Christ. Name we pray. Amen.

You may be seated.

As a choir. Lisa choir loft. I think you guys are going to want to go down cuz it's a soloist for the I would like to welcome back. As you heard a Lisa Williams, Bostick. Bostick is okay.

Having a last name like do to try to make sure I found out things. Alright, cuz I know how it feels. I like to welcome her back and Lily back to Concord at least of grew up here. Many of, you know, her from when she was here she came she's back to visit Larry and it's great to have you here in this great to have you seen for us this morning and I have to say, welcome and thank you also.

How do you say?

It's not there.

That I have to follow you. Thank you for that is beautiful.

Thank you for a great thing of a great reminder this morning. I've said it before. I think pastors have the hardest or preachers have the hardest job of the following, the anthem of the church and this morning is the same house, move by that and

And I've also been dealing with this text that we have this week. Wrestling with, I mean, it has been beating up on the all week. As I've read it and it's replayed in my head images of what's Happening have been just running through my head. as I've been thinking about the sermon to as I read this text, I was thinking About the statement you are 9 out of 10 such-and-such recommend like nine out of 10 dentists recommend Sensodyne, if you do enough research you'll find out that they also recommend Crest and Colgate and all the other ones. Then there's nine out of ten. Cardiovascular doctors, support preventive health.

And this one called me, as I was 9 out of 10 people with addiction started using substances before they turned 18.

That one speaks volumes doesn't have friends.

Then we think about school 9 out of 10. That's a pretty good score on a test, isn't it? and how many of you would have loved to get that on the grades in school when you went There were some tests. Especially calculus.

9 out 10. It's a pretty prominent thing in our lives. We see it on commercials and ads in newspapers and magazines. We see it online because it's always 9 out of 10 something. In fact, I found some older ones that said 9 out of 10, doctors smokes camel Yeah, they're older very older. Unfortunately, some of them I can't put them up on the screen not because it's legal issues. It's just they aren't done in the right image jpg or whatever, to put up on the screen and that can take some time. Show me nine. Out of 10 has been around for a while and has been used by every industry. The support things are bad for us and support things that are good for us. But what does 9 out of 10 have to do with our text today? I mean, if you read it, you kind of know. But am I going in that direction?

I invite you to turn with me to in your Bible is a few viable, your personal Bible or your favorite app on your smart device or on the screen. As we read the Gospel of Luke chapter 17 verses 11 through 19. I'll be reading from the ceb translation this morning. Now hear the words recorded in the Gospel of Luke chapter 17 verses 11 through 19. On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus travel along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As the owner of Village, 10 men with skin diseases. Approach them keeping their distance from him. They raise their voices. It said Jesus master show Mercy. Show us Mercy. When Jesus saw them, he said go show yourselves to the priests. As they left, they were cleansed. One of them when he saw they've been he'll returned and praise God with a loud voice. He fell on his face at Jesus's feet and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus replied. Weren't 10 cleanse. Where are the other nine?

No one returned to praise God, except this Foreigner. Then Jesus said to him, get up and go. Your faith has healed you. This is the word of God, for, all of God's people. Thanks be to God. Let us pray. Oh, Great and Mighty hose, we come to you this day.

Reading about Jesus's interactions. But the ten men with skin disease,

or God help us to be like the one the returns To Worship.

Lookout, allow your spirit to move Among Us this morning.

To move us to step on our toes. The guide, our thoughts. I'll ask that the words I speak in the meditations of our hearts, lift you on high and glorify you, and if they do, not let them be quickly forgotten for his in your son, Jesus name, we pray and all of God's children said,

It's interesting that the CDC says that they have skin diseases, cuz a lot of the text say they had leprosy. I'm sure some of you read that and some of you probably as I was saying skin diseases. Thought leprosy, the leprosy was just kind of this vague idea of any skin disease. I mean, it could have been chickenpox.

It could have been anything measles mumps, you know, all those things that pop up on your skin and they called it leprosy in biblical times. And if you had these skin diseases, you were excommunicated from the community. You were kicked out. You had to be put away from everybody, and they were afraid of you, passing it on to someone else. But then, they also thought this disease was brought on from your sin. Or your unfaithfulness and you couldn't be part of the community. You can even be around your family. I can imagine that being kicked out of your community to the point that you couldn't even talk to your family. And they didn't have cell phones where they can send text messages or make phone calls from a distance. They didn't have emails to send an email address or email to somebody.

You were just cut off from all things within the community.

I think about that not talking to your family member that's been sick. When some people dealt with that, what covid?

Not being able to talk with her family members that were sick.

Thomas sure that this hurt these people. Not even more than just dealing with a disease on the skin. Waiting for the healing to come so they could be welcomed back into the community. And I hear this man. Jesus coming through town and all the healing that he has done. And if you notice He was in double check, make sure Samaria and Galilee this is an area that really didn't have a lot of believers.

But you have to come to him and say, show Mercy on us. And he kills them and sends them away to go. See the priest because I had to go see the priest in order to be proclaimed as cleaned and words to be welcomed into community.

I can't imagine that. You're so sick that in order to be proclaimed is clean to be, welcome back in the community. You have to come see me.

How many of y'all would want to do that?

I'm wondering how many passes would actually want to do that, to be honest, cuz then they got to worry about. They aren't clean and not healed. Am I going to get it to where I'm going to be able to communicate it?

But these 10 go running off headed to the priests because they know once their proclaimed is clean, they can go see their family. And they're happy about it.

They're probably praising on their way to the priests. In this one, man. Stops. Looks at himself and says wait. Instead of going straight to the priest, goes back to Jesus.

And Praises Jesus.

This one is unlike any other.

In fact, if we look at or nine out of 10 doctors and dentist and other things, normally everyone asked what happened to the other one. And why isn't a 10/10 say they? You should use Sensodyne on your teeth. The one this morning I really hit me was why isn't 10/10 suggesting Health screenings? Trier throughout your life that one caught me off-guard. How about y'all?

And what's up with the one that's why is it always 9 out of 10?

And I have a personal. If you want to know that you can ask me after church.

Because we don't know what happened to the one in our lives when they're telling us that they recommend these things. But we know what happened to the one in our scripture this morning.

C9 out and return for the priests, but the one returned.

To the Lord.

The Samaritan. How many of y'all caught that?

the one that Jews didn't get along with, he was a foreigner in the community, he shouldn't have gone back to worship this Jew, he should not have gone back to bow down at the feet, but he did

As I was praying over this text, I was thinking of myself. I'm going to be preaching to the choir a lot on this one. And here we are on Sunday is gathering. And worship. Returning to the Lord falling on our knees and offering, praise and thanksgiving for the healing in the Forgiveness that he is offered us.

You're here because God loves you. you're here because God has healed you, God, has forgiven you

But when was the last time you truly Fall on Your Knees and offered, praise and thanksgiving.

When was the last time you went against the crowd? Because they were going someplace.

It's funny. I've listen to interview with Brian snitker. After the Braves won the NL East

You know, they had the big champagne party in the locker room and he said when he got back to the hotel room, he had a decision to make. Was he going to go right or left? And he chose to go right, which was Back to the Hotel, his hotel room, and get some rest, and get ready for the next day. They're asking about hangovers and headaches in the clubhouse and he said, I don't know of any and thankfully, I don't, I was smart enough to go to the right. So, I'm not dealing with that. I'm actually feeling good today.

How many times have you gone left? Running away from Jesus.

Running away from the praise and thanking him for all that he's done.

We've got a pandemic in this country and I'm not talking about covid anymore.

Is the hearts of our. Humans that surround us. It's our hearts.

When you get so caught up in the ways of the world, we get so caught up in the South, I'll say college football. A Sunday morning isn't that important?

Coming to worship God. Isn't that important?

Back out there to say, is, I've been in places where it's more about coming to be part of the Social Hour than it is about worshipping God.

The challenge is. To be like the Samaritan in the story.

Not only returned to the church.

A return to church. The god in such a way that you fall on your feet and praise and thanksgiving every single day.

The kneel before him.

Jesus replied weren't 10 cleanse. Where are the other nine?

No one returned to praise God, except this Foreigner.

Jesus says to you get up and go.

Your faith has healed you. Let us pray.

How great a mighty host. We thank you for these words.

These words of healing and of love.

Hope.

He prays.

Will God let those words settle in our hearts this morning. Help us to be more like the Samaritan who returned to praise you. Even in the midst of knowing. She could see his family again.

Hope all is to fall on our knees.

And hear those words. Our faith has healed us, Lord.

Forts in your son, Jesus name. We pray. Amen, and amen.

No. Invite you to the stand. As we sing Our closing hymn there's within my heart, a Melody found on page 380 in your Hemel or on the screen. Please stand. If you are able

Friends. As you go into the wall, go knowing that God goes before you. That he is sending his holy spirit to prepare your way. The guide you direct you and also the Lead You Back. The offer praises. Fall at the knees of God. As you go be like the Samaritan always falling at the knees and praising God and offer those praises to others. So that they may come to know the love the hope and the healing that God has offered you. Go allow God's heartfelt compassion to direct your actions as you create Disciples of Jesus Christ, for the transformation of this world, going to name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, all men.

I know how to get all this stuff.
