1 Peter 5:6–7 (NKJV)
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
As we live our daily lives, there is no doubt that we will have many cares concerning the things of this life.
all Kinds of cares that will come upon our mind and sometimes weigh very heavy upon us.
In those times we have here a word of encouragement to let us know that we can cast all that care upon Jesus because He cares for us.
We have to know and believe that we serve who cares about our cares, no matter how small it may be.
You have a choice, to either carry that care/burden or to cast it upon Jesus.
The reason God will take our care if we cast it upon him is because he cares for us.
John 2:1–10 (NKJV)
1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.
3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.”
And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.”
And they took it.
9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.
10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior.
You have kept the good wine until now!”
Jesus went to this wedding because he and the desciples were invited.
When They run out of wine, Mary being concerned about the wedding, came to Jesus and revealed her concern and care to him.
Jesus made note that her concern has nothing to do with uhim, yet because he cared about Mary he was willing to involve himself withe her care.
She also Knew that.
Some of our concerns don’t really have anything to do with God or his Kingdom.
Yet God is willing to entangle himself and involve himself with our concerns and cares because he care for us.
This is what it means “cast all your care upon him because he cares for you”
Don’t be ashamed to bring your cares and concerns to God, becuase he is cares for you he will involve himself so that you don’t have to worry anymore, you dont have to be concerned anymore.
So that you will be releaved.
However you have to come and willingly cast it upon him.
Mark 4:35–41 (NKJV)
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”
36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was.
And other little boats were also with Him.
37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow.
And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful?
How is it that you have no faith?”
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Two times the desiples face a storm in their boat.
Matthew 14:22-32, They were in the sea in the middle of the night, and the wind was contrary and their boat was being tossed to and fro (a fearful sight indeed), they saw Jesus strolling in the water and when they received him into their Boat, the scripture says “the wInd ceased”
The second time, is written here in Mark, This time the storm came while Jesus was inside their Boat.
Two types of storms that we face, one is the storm that comes in our life because Jesus is not in our boat (life), and the storm will ceases when we willingly receive him into our boats>
The second Storm that comes in our life is because Jesus is in our boat, because we have taken Jesus along with us as we walk in the Journey of life.
Back to the story.
In the middle of this storm Jesus was stern a sleep.
Jesus was not concerned about the storm, the desciples saw this as Jesus not caring about their life.
Sometimes when we are faced with various storms while Jesus is with us, because Jesus seems to be silent we may assume that Jesus does not care for us.
Yet What jesus was doing was an implication what the desciples ought to do.
Don’t worry about let Jesus know and then sleep.
We have to have faith and believe that God care about us.
Peter learned his lesson.
In Acts 12, Peter was fast a sleep the night before his execution that the Angel of the Lord had to strike him to wake him up.
Psalms 37:7 “7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”
Let us today cast our care upon Jesus through prayer no matter how small it might be.
