Something Out Of Nothing
Something Out Of Nothing
The way to the water is for people who are thirsty!
Is there a need in your life?
God promises to provide for all our needs!
But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
Is there a need in your life?
God promises to provide for all our needs
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
The way to the waters involves obedience and pursuit.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Elijah understood how God’s provision works...
But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.
There are times where the provision dries up! When the fountain that once supplied for our needs is dry.
It might even be a fountain God himself provided
Then the Lord said to Elijah,
In this place God speaks! Are we willing to listen?
“Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.”
God’s instructions are unusual… The widow.. the one who needs others to care for her is ordered to serve the man of God...
So he went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the gates of the village, he saw a widow gathering sticks, and he asked her, “Would you please bring me a little water in a cup?”
He asks for water… Are you willing to ask?
As she was going to get it, he called to her, “Bring me a bite of bread, too.”
Are you willing to give when your supply is questionable?
But she said, “I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.”
She now questions the request. God doesn’t mind it if we ask questions. She expresses her own need. One needy feeding another needy
But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son.
Don’t be afraid… fear drives us to desperation… It controls our behaviors… The more we fear the more we turn over control of the situation to the situation. When we don’t give into fear we stay in control and give God opportunity to make something out of nothing.
For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”
God’s promise for us all is so powerful and beautiful. There will always be water even when there isn’t any...
So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days.
There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
