Churches are confused. There appears to be no consensus on what function the church serves in the world. Building up believers, evangelizing the lost, feeding the poor, lobbying government, and protesting legislation are just a few of the functions churches feel compelled to perform. Rick Warren recognized…

Discipleship 101 Intro: One of the things that I like about teaching at the school is the flow that it provides for the year. I think of years, not according to the Gregorian calendar, but according to the flow of events that surround the school. August is exciting with in-service, open house and the…

God wants us to keep moving forward for Jesus Christ. Here's how to do it: 1. Recognize the magnitude of our mission (vs. 19-21). 2. Help strengthen the souls of the disciples (vs. 21-22). 3. Be on the lookout for new leaders (vs. 23).
Learn what "disciple-making" means as Matthew 4:13 becomes the launching point. Jesus taught the disciples to share the Word, show the Word, teach the Word and serve the World. Two simple words, but a lifetime of modeling the Person of Christ.
Introduction: Before we get to far into todays message lets first start with the definition of what disciple and/or discipleship means. Define - Disciple is one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another. Disciple fundamentally can mean - “a follower, or someone who is a learner” A…

The content of discipleship is most clearly seen in the Christian’s relationship to Jesus Christ. But this also affects a person’s relationship to God the Father, the cross, the church and the world.

When Christians think about the Great Commission they think about Matt 28:18-20. But there are actually five other passages where Jesus commissions us. When we examine each of these six passages we come away with a far more detailed and complete idea of our mission in this world. We find six very important ideas: Jesus is The Master Builder, Jesus is The Model, The Magnitude is significant, Jesus gives The Method, Jesus gives The Message, and the Holy Spirit provides The Means.
The title of the sermon is “Called, Convinced, Commissioned,” and the wording there could even be re-arranged if you want. It could be Called, Commissioned, Convinced, or even Convinced, Called, Commissioned. The order is not what is important here. What is important is our living a life in obedience…
