Jesus is the promised son of David... And of Bathsheba. David was Israel’s greatest king, but he did some terrible things. He committed rape, adultery, and murder. Bathsheba (who had very little say in the whole matter) bore the brunt of the cost… she became pregnant by the man who raped her, her husband was murdered, and her child died. But God can forgive and redeem even our most sinful decisions and the most terrible things that happen to us. David turned back to God in repentance, and kept his promises to Bathsheba.
