Psalm 18 is a wonderful summary of praise and thanksgiving for God’s protection over the course of David’s life. The Psalm is repeated nearly identical in 2 Samuel 22. Psalm 18 recounts God’s protection and the reason for God’s protection with beautiful imagery – calling God his strength, rock, and fortress.

A God Ready to Forgive. What wonderful words to hear? Ezra confesses that God is always ready to forgive and then describes the character of God that makes him ready to forgive. The following words are some of the most comforting words found in our Bibles. We so often struggle with God’s love. When we sin – we wonder if God loves us. When we suffer – we wonder if God loves us. Yet this passage should clear any doubt. God always loves and forgives those who seek his name.

Nahum 2-3 continues the declaration of God's vengeance against Nineveh because of his unconditional love to Israel. In that sense, Nahum is a love letter to God's people. As we consider the historical and prophetic parallels found in Nahum - we learn that God has magnificent love, wisdom, power, and justice. The story of Nineveh should encourage us that our God is the only one who can meet our needs. All other love, wisdom, power, and justice pale in comparison to the magnificence of God displayed in Nahum 2-3.

Ezra recounts in his prayer how Israel responded to the blessings of God (9:6-15) with rebellion and disobedience. The text summarizes Israel's people as being prideful, stiff necked, breaking the Law, and indiffirent to God. As we compare the NT to God's work with Israel - we can be just as prideful, rebellious, disobedient, and indiffirent. We often are amazed at the Apostasy of Israel in the face of such mighty love and power. But the Gospel represents even greater power and grace. We ought to live by faith as we consider the power and love of the Exodus and the Gospel.

Does your struggle seem like it won’t end? Does your heart ache all day? This is the same struggle that David had. We do not know exactly the cause of his struggle, but he agonized awaiting God to answer. God seemed far away to him. Yet, David turned to Yahweh for help. He declared, “Consider me”. In light of God’s Steadfast love (v. 5) David confidently awaiting God to answer is plea for help. Likewise, through Jesus Christ God loves us. God in his wisdom may allow us to wait for his answer. But he always will bring deliverance because of His steadfast love for us.
