You are the salt of the earth ( Mt 5:14a ). You are the light of the world ( Mt 5:13a ). This is how Jesus describes Christians. It’s how he describes you, a follower of Christ. But what does it mean that you are salt? Many people try to explain this passage by examining the natural properties of salt.…

Your Influence 2 Cor 2:11 Matt. 5; 13 If you will remember we started out looking at the different ways the devil seeks to get the advantage over us as Christians. We saw that the devil gains the advantage over Christians through one of his devices, like discouragement, discontentment, compromise, delaying,…

God has given purpose to your life. Live as salt and light to this world. Stem the moral decay of society and shine the light of Christ on those living in darkness without him!
Sermon on the Mount
Lights shine bright... everywhere we go! As long as God is at work (which He is), as long as the Holy Spirit is moving (which he is), as long as the Church is alive (which she is)... lights will always shine bright. The question is are you contributing to darkness or light? We invite you to listen this morning as Pastor Chase brings God's Word to us in a practical way! (The video shown at the end was of color blind people viewing color for the first time through Enchroma Glasses. The illustration shows what it's like when we allow Christ to shine through our lives to others.)

Introduction Last week, we saw that the Beatitudes of Jesus were not the “be happy attitudes” of Robert Schuller. What Jesus says here is far more profound that the shallow interpretation that Schuller offers. Schuler gives advice which might provide temporary happiness at the danger of eternal hellfire…

“Being a Servant” Text: John 13:1-5 I. Welcome II. Introduction Our special theme for the Walter Hill church this year is “Being the Leaven in 2011!” Of course, as Jesus taught with this very short parable in Matthew 13:33, this is what disciples in our Lord’s kingdom are supposed to be every day we…

A couple weeks ago we started to look at the Sermon on the Mount. We discussed the Beatitudes and concluded that there was a blessing associated with humbling ourselves. This morning I’d like to look at another section of Jesus’ sermon. Again I want to start by saying these are very familiar passages…
Whenever you are looking for a new job, it is a good idea to ask to see the “job description” for that job. A job description lists what is expected from the particular position. People end up frustrated in their jobs when what is expected is not clear. This morning we are going to look at the Christian’s…

A childlike spirit is the litmus test for spiritual maturity and against spiritual disorder. Not all spiritual growth is healthy. The Chinese has a term “Zouhuo Rumo 走火入魔,” which is equivalent to Kundalini Syndrome, a condition when a spiritual pactice gets derailed or melfunctioned that leads to mental and emotional disorders. In Christianity, I would call it Pharisee Syndrome. Pharisees are very spiritual people. They are very "faithful" to the scriptures, but according to Jesus, they are not "fruitful" because they got stuck in their egos and arrogance that caused the spiritual disorder.

By Pastor Glenn Pease Salt is a paradox because it is both vital to your health, and one of your health's most deadly enemies. Dr. Conrad of Bethel is a great example of the importance of knowing this paradox. He had too much salt in his system, and needed to reduce his intake of salt. This a theme heard…

If Jesus' Kingdom has the same end goals, motivations, and methods as every other Kingdom of the World, it is useless. Jesus' Kingdom isn't like ANY other Kingdom. And His Kingdom goes on forever, won't you join Him? Trust that Jesus, God in a human body, died on the cross for your sins, believe that He was buried, and that He has now been raised from the dead and He will rescue you! Call on Him to be saved from this messed up world, from your messed up mind, messed up life! He will come to you, if you'll trust in Him and stop trusting in yourself, trying to be your own god, and pushing His Way, and His Kingdom aside. God has made this Jesus, both LORD and Messiah! Recorded at Refuge TLH on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

By Pastor Glenn Pease We take salt for granted because it is both abundant and available. This has not always been the case for Americans. Back in 1778 the salt supply began to run short in Boonsbourogh. This was a serious problem, for the pioneers needed salt to cure their meat and hides, and they also…

TEOTWAWKI--ring a bell? The end of the world as we know it. There was a time in world history that actually happened--the flood. What happened immediately after? Only incredible, grace and mercy filled things! God gave us the concept of government, so that we would not destroy ourselves. He literally painted for us an uncondition promise in the sky that he would never destroy the earth with a flood--he introduced us to his rainbow. And he also showed us, through Noah, how desperately we need a Savior. Join the Grace United crew as we talk about God's reset of his world in the aftermath of the Flood.
