Prayer As we continue this week making our way through the 1st chapter of the gospel of John, …we come today to - basically - the second part to last week’s sermon... Last week we looked at John the Baptist being sent BY GOD to water baptize... with the purpose of REVEALING Jesus to Israel... And what…
What does a mask do? It hinders our voice and vision A proper mask can protect you from certain dangers What does a mask NOT do? What Would Jesus Undo
The Danger of Hypocrisy Hypocrisy. It’s when hands lifted in praise have been earlier used for sin. It’s when lips proclaiming praise had hours earlier been used for insults. It’s when one’s reputation and one’s character are vastly different. The Pharisees were condemned for their hypocrisy. We read the stories of their encounters with Jesus and shake our heads at how far off they were from the truth without realizing that that is why they were condemned in the first place. Today, we need to evaluate and see if our lifestyle is different than that of the hypocritical Pharisees. Are we living lives of integrity? Read Jesus’ words in Matthew 15:1-9. Jesus condemned the Pharisees because they were more focused on people breaking their traditions than God’s commandments. It infuriated them that Jesus’ disciples did not follow protocol when it came to washing of hands and the manner in which they ate. Jesus was exhausted from their unwillingness to see the big picture.
Sermon on the Mount (SOTM)
Pastor Chuck Wilson • Lower Lights Church • Sermon • • 284 views • 42:28
Pastor Chuck starts a new sermon series about the “Sermon on the Mount”. He describes how Jesus uses “The Beatitudes” help to us redefine what God wants us to admire in the world. Pastor Chuck provides a unique concept for us to use the Beatitudes as “not the attitudes we should have, but the attitudes we should be.” This week, Pastor Chuck’s topic is “Blessed are the Poor in Spirit.” Pastor Chuck describes how being “blessed” is a continuous spiritual condition of spiritual prosperity (being rich in spirit), contentment, and satisfaction in your life, not a physical feeling or state of physical material possession. Pastor Chuck will explain “one who is ‘poor in spirit’ has humbly recognized they have a deep need for God because they know they lack His Holiness and have a need for His forgiveness, grace, and mercy, and need Him as a Savior.” Pastor Chuck encourages us to become more aware of our desperate everyday need for God and to invite Him into our lives more every day.

Review: Do you have a Lord? Last week we ended with, their statement “We have no God but Caesar.” One reason they had gotten to that point was because they ceased to fear God. Pilate gives us an example here. Earlier in the meeting with Jesus, he asked the question: What is truth? Truth What is 2 plus…
