Jesus waits to raise Lazarus from the dead so people can see God’s power and glory.

The story of Lazarus shows us how: 1. Jesus comes and calls us closer to Him (vs. 27-32). 2. Jesus hurts when we hurt (vs. 32-38). 3. Jesus delivers us from doubt (vs. 37-43). 4. Jesus defeats our death (43-44).

How can we get the help we need in the hard times of life? 1. Go to God (vs. 17-20). 2. Listen to the Lord (vs. 21-26). 3. Rely on the Lord's resurrection (vs. 26-27).

1. Jesus wants us to be confident in Him (John 12:1-2). 2. Jesus wants us to be committed to Him (John 12:2-5, 9-11). 3. Jesus wants to take care of us (John 12:4-8). 4. Jesus wants to commend us (Matthew 26:7-13).

Many in this world view God as callous, harsh and not loving. But as we look at this passage in John, we see the beauty of God's sovereignty and in unity with his love and compassion combine to bring great comfort to those around Jesus. God wants you to recognize that in your trials and loss in this life, He is continuing to pour out his love and goodness to us.

There is One Thing that Jesus said was needed or necessary. Mary chose that part and it would not be taken from her. What did she chose? In speaking about Martha, Pastor Marvin encourages us to make Jesus a priority and build a relationship with Him.

God is able to provide precisely what we need when we need it. We may not trust Him to do so, but He is fully capable, and we find rest to the degree we learn to trust in His promises. Jesus, God's Prophet to Israel, pronounced judgement against those who rejected Him. If we refuse Him, we remain under condemnation. While we know what is right, we fail to live loving Him and loving others. He came to save sinners. After trusting Him and being brought into His Kingdom by the gift of His righteousness and grace, we have the privilege of serving and loving those who are rejected and outcasts and even our enemies. We have the privilege of laying our lives down for anyone; for everyone. We are neighbor to anyone we are acting in love toward.
