Nehemiah faced incredible difficulty when he received permission to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city walls. The Returnee’s and Nehemiah faced an enemy who was openly taunting them. Their enemies outnumbered and surrounded them. Yet God protected and provided for Israel. After a lengthy absence to the King, Nehemiah returned to find all of the work neglected and the enemies of God and Israel living inside Jerusalem. Nehemiah had many reasons to be bitter and angry, but instead he chose to remember His God.
