the Triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem, which we recall this Palm Sunday, we see: 1) The End of the Pilgrimage (Matthew 21:1a), the 2) The Exactness of Prophecy (Matthew 21:1b-7), 3) The Epitome of Praise (Matthew 21:8-9) and 4) The Element of Perplexity (Matthew 21:10-11)
Today we celebrate Palm Sunday—when Messiah entered the city of Jerusalem to start the Passion Week and was greeted with triumphal praise. As the crowds gathered, they shouted out a quotation of the 118th Psalm, “Hosanna…Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!” Let's consider the setting there in Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday and then look at the original quoted Psalm, where we find a timely and encouraging challenge for each of us.
[Independent & Special Occasion]
"Hosanna" is a cry for help, but also a shout of praise! Jesus rode into Jerusalem to triumphal shouts of Hosanna! But by the end of the week, those shouts would be changed to cries for his death on a cross. Jesus, the king of righteousness and salvation, was coming to save but not in the way the people expected. This Palm Sunday message prepares the hearer for the events of Holy Week.

After Jesus did many miracles, signs, and wonders He came riding humbly on a donkey, where people made Him King over the Jews. Jesus Triunphal Entry was a fullflied prophecy that the Pharisees knew and sought to silence the disciples, but even then they had no power to do so because it was the timing of God for Jesus to be glorified as the true Messiah. Unfortunately, the people refused to accept Jesus as the true King and failed to recognize the timing of God. The day of their salvation.
