How do you know what is truly spiritual, from the Holy Spirit? We're tempted to think that more sensational spiritual demonstrations like speaking tongues are more spiritual; or that everyone who has been baptized in the Holy Spirit will manifest the same spiritual evidence. But those are ideas based on experience, not on Scripture. Paul teaches that the true tests of spirituality are (1) a life that declares Jesus is Lord and (2) gifts that serve the common good.
