Turn to and read Psalm 119:105 . Pray. Opening: In the early years of our country Election Day sermons and Political Sermons were common place. In an article entitled, “When the Sermon Reigned,” the writer states: Beginning in 1634, and every year after 1640, the annual election day in Massachusetts…

To love God, we must know God. This is the most essential truth you could carry away with you today. It is the most common of common sense. Unless you know someone, you will not genuinely love someone.

We are in a difficult time in our nation. We are just coming out of a pandemic where over 100,000 Americans have died. Then we had the unfortunate murder of George Floyd by police who have been charged with murder… Not every police action is an act of prejudice, but there are prejudiced police officers…

Last week I suggested that the Christian Community is the ultimate enemy of racism. I believe this to be so. Not because of the institution itself or because of some type of political power it may wield. Not because of its raw theology or teaching. Not because of its impact on architecture or the arts. Not because of any other of a host of possible reasons, but because of the power and motivation behind, beneath and before the Church of Jesus. The true power of Christianity comes only from the Love of Christ. When we get this right, we can fulfill the work of both the Body of Christ and our own personal work within the greater movement of the Kingdom. On this day of Love, let’s be once more reminded of what our God teaches us about what true love should be. CCLI Streaming icense CSPL085064
