Through trials of life sometimes we acan be faced with temptation. The same produce that trials bring is what is needed for temptation as well. James gives us the how to for enduring temptation.

Nahum is a prophetic book promising the freedom of Israel from Assyrian rule and the total destruction of Nineveh. In the first chapter, Nahum describes God as working in two important ways. The book begins with a repeated description of God as zealous and vengeful. The author emphasizes God's power over water, land, and people (1:4-5). Nahum then questions the wisdom of rebelling against God. (1:6, 9) The entire section culminates in the prophetic promise of the total destruction of the city of Nineveh. (1:12-14) Though the main focus is God's vengeance against Nineveh; it also emphasizes that God is slow to anger (v. 3), a refuge to his people (v. 7), and Good (v. 7). As whole, Nahum defends God's justice emphasizing his goodness and patience along with his demand for vengeance.

David declared God's goodness and love to Israel in 1 Ch 16:34. This became a national anthem for Israel down through the ages.

In order to grow up in salvation, we must see ourselves as completely dependent on God's sustaining power and therefore keep seeking Him in His word. This dependent longing we do not do in isolation but in community, and therefore we must also put away hindrances to love and spiritual growth.

We know that God is great... 1. Because He has chosen His children (vs. 6-13). 2. Because His will is never wrong (vs. 14-22). 3. Because His mercy is magnificent (vs. 15-18). 4. Because His glory is great (vs. 23-24).

God is good! And we know this because: 1. He has blessed us with the Bible (vs. 1-2). 2. He judges people with perfect justice (vs. 3-8). 3. He exposes our evil (vs. 9-20, 23). 4. He gives us His grace (21-24).

God is good is too cheap of a description of his goodness

Yes, God is angry, but that is not His nature. His nature is love, mercy and compassion. And it’s precisely His compassion and love that makes Him angry at sin and injustice. Anger is sometimes good. God always has good reasons for His anger. And behind those reasons is always one thing - love.
