Theme: What does it mean to lead and to follow well? God made each one of us with the desire to follow him. We all ache deep inside to enjoy God himself. Peter is encouraging us to act in humility with one another and serve each other because of the gracious work of Christ. Humility will please God.
God's perfect creation has been reduced to rubble: it's a disaster area destroyed by sin. We Christians, Jesus' followers, are not merely bystanders to this mess, but active members of God's disaster recovery team. When we are followers, not fans, we are changed by Jesus because of His death and resurrection, and we have gifts to use to bless others. We are called to follow Jesus into the fray.
