Being Christian means, we have been adopted by the most wonderful dad in the World – God the Father. Our adoption gives us a wonderful, confident, and blessed relationship with our Heavenly Father. So often we tremble at the struggles of life, but we must remember all we have to do is cry out to our “Abba Father”.
A.W. Tozer said in the Knowledge of the Holy - “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” (A.W. Tozer, Knowledge of the Holy) We may be surprised - how much our belief’s about God shape who we are. Whether we are lost, or saved. If we think God is angry…

The Gospel of Jesus Christ promises us many truths. Since the cross is the decisive victory over sin, death, and Satan we get to enjoy wonderful riches in Christ. However, in many ways we wait until the day when he returns and the final judgement to fully be able to appreciate those wonderful riches. Until then, the natural effect of waiting is doubt whether those riches will ever come. Paul anticipates this doubt and teaches us how we can be confident that we are saved from the final judgement.

The Early Church was a mix of Jews and Non-Jews They came from different backgrounds and beliefs, and John wrote for them. Romans: Real Hope for the Righteousness of God
If we as Christians can see the conclusive victory that Christ has achieved for us, we will be able to carry out our mission together as his church. We will be confident of success because we see that every possible opposition simply cannot last long. We never need to compromise with the defeated powers of darkness because we can never be separated from the matchless love of God for us.

From these couple of verses and the surrounding context of John's letter, we are able to answer the question, "How then should we pray?" Our prayers can be offered: confident in the Lord, expectant for them to be answered, if we humbly pray according to His will. Such prayers can only be accomplished as we understand His will, by His Word for His glory and praise.

Playin' a fools game hopin' to win; and tellin' those sweet lies and losin' again. I was lookin' for…
